Avoid Comparison, focus on Capability and Purpose. Not one for long posts but here it goes. Since I started Pics and Petals EXACTLY 1 year ago today, I have taken on every opportunity that has come my way- paid or unpaid- and even made time to network and bring in my own business, something I never thought my quiet self could do. What began as a hobby, turned into photography side hustle, grew into a photography and floral design business, and expanded into and event design company. While I still consider my business small, the amount of growth that I have achieved over the past year is undeniable. Why do I still compare myself to others doing the same thing? I still have so much more growth ahead of me, with my ULTIMATE dream being shooting and designing for weddings. So here’s to growth, ignoring the comparisons and focusing on capability and purpose in each moment . One of the best things about working creatively and for yourself is that you get to meet and work with so many fun and wonderful people! I had literally stripped down to my undies, rubbed off any make up and was laying in bed after a very long emotional day when I got a text from these ladies at around 10pm if I was still up for helping out... Yes I'm a grandma and like to go to bed at ten most nights after winding down with a good old fashioned cooking show. Jumped out of bed, sprits myself with perfume, pulled on my leggings and oversized sweater without a bra, went underground onto the subway to BK and smeared deep red lipstick on as I met them on the corner of 8av and 9th St and jumped into the van to install this beauty. So grateful my job provides me with such Joy and beauty and I hope this install did the same for others on their way to work this AM!
