First we boiled the water with the cardamom few minutes then we add the tea , simmer for few seconds then serve ..... sugar is optional . .

A shade cloth hung over the little road-side stall. The brick house behind it was home to trees whose trunks suggested that they had been there for many years, gifting their owners with a bountiful supply of seasonal fruits - rosy-cheeked peaches, golden apricots and glistening, ruby-red cherries.
As we pulled up, I jumped out of the car, purse in my hand, as I made my way to the table. A little old lady made her way over, “what would you like dear? She asked with a smile. A netted bag of walnuts still in their shells had caught my eye. A rather romantic image came to mind as I imagined myself standing at my kitchen bench; cracking each shell apart with my great-grandmothers nut cracker. Little did I know at the time that cracking walnuts is no easy task!! “A bag of walnuts” I replied. She then proceeded to open up the bag she had been holding in her hand, “would you like some cherries too?” She said with a twinkle in her eye. There they were, the shiniest little baubles with skin so tight that they almost didn’t look real. “Taste one” she said, “but be careful not to get any on your white top!” What happened next was one of those moments of pure delight...the sweet juice exploded in my mouth and as the little old lady watched me, she smiled. I smiled back and asked “how much will the cherries and walnuts be?”
I waved goodbye and skipped back to the car, buckled myself in and carefully placed the “treasures” on the seat next to me. Every now and then glancing across at them and marveling at the magic of Mother Nature.
These little gems eventually found their way into many things, but it was this, a slight adaptation of @charlotteree ‘s espresso tray cake, that was quite literally the cherry on top.
On Sunday our little home was packed to the hilt, we were in fact squashed in like sardines as we celebrated little Beau bears very first Birthday party with family. Our home had never had quite so many bodies in it before. We had quite the feast and I loved every minute of deciding on the menu, from what to have to graze on, to the main event and then of course, the cake! Taking full advantage of our pizza oven to slowly cook a delicious shoulder of lamb while the oven worked away on golden roast vegetables that were tossed in lentils and a vibrant green kale pesto. The potatoes seemed to be on everyone’s lips (or should I say tastebuds?) perhaps it was the last minute drizzle of thickened cream over the top that made them that little bit extra special.... however, I think that Nanna Joys sausage rolls had everyone going back for just one more, even if I did forget the tomato sauce! Oops! She may not be here in person with us anymore, but her sausage rolls will always be the star of every party. Both my brother and I had them at our parties when we were growing up and she certainly created quite the name for herself and those buttery, flaky little morsels of deliciousness. I would love to know what creations bring back memories from your childhood parties? Did you or do you have a grandmother/Aunty/Mother/grandfather who would have to make a certain something for every party? Nanny Joy had soft, buttery hands. I can take myself back into the kitchen of her Box Hill home, watching her pull the trays of sausage rolls from her oven and waiting very impatiently for them to cool, while the aromas teased us and we couldn’t wait one minute longer!

I am so ready for this weekend, how about you? We've got a friend's 30th today, then my family are arriving for my birthday; I can't wait, but there's lots to do before they arrive, so it's banana Scotch pancakes to get us going this morning, served with plenty of golden syrup.
