I’m not going to lie. The last few weeks haven’t been easy for me. As if a broken ankle weren’t enough, I woke up this morning with a sore throat, fever, and the world’s worst period cramps . The everyday personal stuff like taking a shower & getting dressed, cleaning the house, running errands, etc. has been really exhausting/frustrating given that I can’t walk on my own two feet or drive. But what’s been even more difficult is the struggle of simultaneously trying to manage work responsibilities. . One of the hard parts about owning your own business? (I’m sure those of you who are freelancers can also relate). . There’s no built in sick days. No paid leave. You’ve gotta just push through, especially when there are deadlines & other people are relying on you or need things from you in order to get their own work done (that either you’ve hired them to do or vice versa). It’s even harder when you’re an empath and it pains you to your core to feel as though you’re letting people down. Not to mention feeling like you’re letting yourself down too. . Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love what I do, I love sharing my gift & helping others, and I love the projects I’ve been working so hard on this year. But there are times the stress & anxiety of it all gets so overwhelming that it feels like I can’t breathe. . I‘m truly not looking for a pity party AT ALL. Most of the time things are great and I can maintain a positive mindset even when things get tough. But other days (like today)...no matter how much I meditate, gratitude journal, remind myself that sooo many people in this world have it waaay worse, etc...the uncomfortable feelings still linger. And it sucks. I guess all I can do right now is try to take things day-by-day & give myself permission to feel my feelings (even if I feel guilty in doing so, bc I think of how so many ppl would trade their struggles with me in a heartbeat). . I have a really hard time opening up about this stuff. But I want to make an effort to share more of the good times AND the bad, because life‘s surely not as perfect as many people’s IG feeds make it seem to be. And I wanted those of you who can relate to know you’re not alone

So this happened. And I’m hobbling around in my sexy Ugg lookalike till my check-up next week for the next steps. . Not being dramatic / whiny, but this lack of mobility is dehabilitating. I can’t buy my own meals, every step is a calculated one, and the over-reliance on everyone but myself is killing me softly. I haven’t had my morning coffee for over a week cos I’ve no free hand for a mug - but being weaned off caffeine is actually very liberating . I spent the first few days trying to navigate around my impinged independence, and was pretty damn pleased. Went into office, took the bus / train, met with friends and even contemplated spinning (cos it’s not exactly weight-bearing). Then my ankle got mad at all the jiggling, and did a Bruce Banner - Incredible Hulk. (My toe nail actually turned blue! Instastories for reference.) . And sweater weather makes me feel like I’m in those Japanese game shows and tackling obstacle courses covered in soap suds. I’ve decided to cloister myself 24/7 in the safer confines of home cos I’m actually on 21 days of hospitalisation leave (), and I really don’t want surgery! . It isn’t a great period cos the painkillers give me gastric and my ankle feels like a demanding baby who can’t be soothed - I now have some sympathy for light sleepers. . But I like how I can do work in my PJs and no longer get yelled at for being messy / leaving my dish in the sink. I’m training to be Queen of Piston Squats on my left , and am slightly excited to see how much my right leg has atrophied when the cast comes off - I’ve taken measurements! . But I’m also bored. @lacrmx got the best of me. I was battling for the lead going to hit the big double in the middle, and the lip was so soft ended up swapping out and the bike landed on me. Thankful for @shoemaker155 stopping in the middle of our race to get my bike off of me, you rock girl!! I ended up with two fractures in my right ankle, and disappointed In myself for not finishing my race... Ortho this week to figure this out...
