Feeling really ill today I don’t get ill often, but when I do it hits me hard! And this heat is making me feel worse ☀️ so was in need of a cooling bowl of blueberry banana smoothie with some added protein to help my body heal and recover Blended 1/2 frozen banana with 1 cup blueberries, 1 scoop protein powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp Tahini and a splash of oat milk Hope you’re all having a fab Friday! On the left I’m holding a slice of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. On the right I’m holding an entire watermelon. Both contain 1,000 calories. But! Who would eat an entire watermelon!? You wouldn’t. That’s the point.

This tiny slice of cheesecake would account for the majority of most people’s calories for an entire day whereas an equal amount of watermelon would contain substantially less calories. That doesn’t mean you should never eat cheesecake. You should enjoy it from time to time if it makes you happy. This is just to provide some perspective on what 1,000 calories of one of the most calorie dense foods looks like compared with one of the least calorie dense foods.

Who wants my brand new GLUTEN FREE VIENNESE WHIRLS recipe!? These babies took me countless batches to get right but I think I’ve nailed them! A delicate butter biscuit which melts in your mouth, filled with sweet buttercream and jam! It’s the perfect baking project now it’s cooled down a little! Living in Nashville, chicken and waffles is a staple - but very hard to find gluten free. I experimented making them this past weekend and they were a huge success!

The air fryer would definitely make the chicken frying process quicker, cleaner and easier so I definitely can’t wait for mine to arrive!

The Ottos website had recipes for both the fried chicken and the waffles! The chicken was brined in pickle juice and let me tell you - it was incredible. Next time I’ll be adding a bit more spice to my seasoning though to give the chicken an extra kick

To balance out the fried chicken, I made the waffles using bananas! You couldn’t even tell, so I’ll definitely be making them again!

This meal is free from Gluten, grains, nuts, dairy and is also paleo friendly!
