#metalfinishmonday Finishing/ redoing a shop table from last year. This one is a carbon steel frame and stainless legs. A little gun blue and 309 filler just because. The top is a recomimssioned heart pine cabin door that sits flush inside the frame ( its awaiting some polyurethane). New casters are on the way and my shipping and receiving table can finally be put to use. ( if I could redo anything it would be to use stem mount casters. So, those who know me know I embody the term bull in a China shop and am totally not allowed to have nice things. My note 9 (android lyyyyyfe ✊) phone screen has a crack in it from loading a 3/8 sheet on the plasma table, my speaker is blown out from countless metal shavings in it and the charging port has had an incomplete connection since about day 3 of owning it. Yes I do own a new denali L5P but my daily driver is affectionately known as the dentamax for good reason. Not to mention I don't own a clean pair of pants and my boots all have the steel toes showing haha. BUT! All that changes when it comes to my @mfurick stuff. My ceramic #fupa12 has been a dark brown color for over 2 years now and my pyrex bbw gets pulled off and put away after each use. That all changed in the last 9 freaking days. Not only did I break my very first iteration ceramic fupa ive had forevs but i broken not only its replacement but its replacements replacement within 3 days of each other. Then to top it off 2 days later I "very lightly " swung my torch over a tube and well bah prototype bbw . So I had a dilemma, @mfurick has supported me since day one and I get accidents happen I told @mfurick I needed to buy a replacement so I could feel what its like to break something you paid for. Think about it as a pen if you buy a 40 dollar pen your not going to lose it like you would one of those sucky ones that come in the pack of 100 that never work in the first place half the time ha! Long story short I get a package from @mfurick and im glad to see he has a sense of humor . This is just one of the many many reasons there's not another cup that will go on my torch for any carbon or non ferrous metal welding period. #workshoptip What do you all think of this? @cavemanwelder ・・・ I mentioned it a few posts back but thought I would should up close how I run my @mfurick #fupa12 double stuffed: two o-rings and two sets of gas diffusers. Mike's cup setup is already awesome as it comes but this hack makes it even more awesomer. Doubling up on o-rings ensures an extra tight fit around the gas lens and the additional set of diffusers makes the gas envelope even more calm and uniform. Don't just blindly take my word for it though...all you proud #furickcup owners out there run your own exeriments and arrive at your own conclusions. Let me know what you think in posts or comments I automatically set my tungsten stickout to about 3/4" and 25-30 cfh argon with this front end setup. If you're ever looking for a good challenge. Try welding a 1.2mm 18g folded radius corner to the inside of a vertical 1.2mm 18g 304 stainless sheet. (1.2mm is 3/64" for the imperial peoples) Without melting the outside edge of the vertical sheet at all, and still getting good deep penetration down in the root of the join. ️‍♂️ It's no easy feat, I can tell ya. I've literally welded hundreds and hundreds of these parts. And still find myself melting the edge every now and then. Very rarely nowadays, but I still do. It's so satisfying when you do make it all the way without once melting that sharp corner. One of my greater achievements in my welding career as silly as that must sound to some.
