Chipotle vs Homemade Chicken Burrito Bowls. Everyone loves Chipotle right? It’s the perfect post workout meal and is incredibly flavorful. But the portions can be a bit large and the price a touch high. . . On the right is my attempt at a Chicken Burrito Bowl. The nice thing about creating the bowls yourself is that you can customize it anyway you like. I have 2-3x the chicken in my homemade bowl for far less than it would cost to add extra at the restaurant. I also prefer more vegetables and less rice which is an easy sub to account for. The biggest advantage of making them at home is the price. I can make my own for just about 1/3 of the price at Chipotle. It really doesn’t take long to prepare them either. I’ve made this recipe enough times that I can be in and out in an hour . . I find little wrong with eating at Chipotle. It’s quality food that can certainly fit within the confines of your diet if you frame it correctly. You may have to get creative with how you construct your bowls but it is certainly doable. They tend to put a bit more rice and beans in proportion to meat which isn’t ideal but you can always ask for less rice and extra meat for an upcharge. . . Your weekly lunches for work don’t have to be boring or expensive. My main goal when coming up with recipes is to make food that is enjoyable to eat. A healthy lifestyle is achieved when eating well isn’t a chore and i believe the best way to do this is through quality meals. . . Morning or Evening Workouts ‍♂️ ? - First thing is first...whether you workout in the morning or evening or anywhere in between, the fact that you're getting one in is what matters. Some people will say the morning is better because of XY and Z and others will say the evening is better, but truthfully it is what you prefer and your preference! - However, there are benefits and detriments to working out at different times of the day! Working out in the morning is a great way to start the day, kicks up your metabolism to a whole new level of burning, is usually when you're the most awake to get it done, and definitely gets you energized for the rest of the day not to mention it's over and done with and you don't have to worry about it later! However, you have less food in you, thus less fuel, and if you're not an early bird, you're probably not going to have too much fun doing it bright and early . On the other hand, working out in the evening is one of the best destressers from the day, you'll be able to lift more from the additional good in your system (more food means more fuel) and you can sleep in an extra hour or so, but you may have to push through fatigue that you gained throughout the day and psychologically it is a bit harder to have gone through a whole work day, still knowing that you have to workout. - Regardless of when you did it, there is going to be benefits and detriments! I personally prefer the morning if my schedule allows it and it is something I can stick to in the long term! Remember, consistency is what is important! . . .
