Yuzu coping with his loss in 2019 VS 2015... • These two situations are much more similar than you think! Both took place the season after Yuzu won the Olympics, in both cases Yuzu was considered a favorite to win, in both cases Yuzu was facing immense pressure from the public and in both cases... he LOST! • But there is one pivotal factor that was present in 2015 and absent in 2019... YUZURU HANYU lusting over NATHAN CHEN, Worlds 2019 Edition • That lip biteeee so vivid, so intense, so telling Yuzu is a very expressive person and he was pobably unaware of how that facial expression would come across in the media but hell yes it came across nicely That freling of acknowledging and appreciating someone's efforts but still wanting to best them and the kuyashii mixed with admiration that he indeed got the best of you! Such wide spectrum of opportunities of powerplay ahgrrrr • "Kakkoii" in Japanese means cool or handsome, or something inbetween, depending on the context. Yuzu uses that word so evidently about Nathan, he is awestruck by Nathan's "kakkoii-ness" And remember when Yuzu himself said that he wants to be perceived as "kakkoii" more than "kawaii" (cute)... Well Yuzu, if you keep making dorky faces and playing with mascots and jumping into other men's arms, chances are you'll remain as kawaii for much longer But to know that Yuzu's perception of an ideal guy is "kakkoii" and to see him call Nathan "kakkoii" And it's not something he said just because, he strongly emphasizes on the use of THAT SPECIFIC word towards Nathan and he used it multiple times in a day!!! • "There is this special feeling that wells up in me that raises the tiny hairs on the back of my neck when I meet a strong opponent, and that is what triggers the DESIRE in me to win " - This is also a quote from Yuzu talking about Nathan. Yuzu was at the verge of tears when he won his first Nationals and it was NOT the tears of happiness... Here's why: • In 2012, Japanese Male figure skating was dominated by Daisuke Takahashi, while Yuzu was a dorky teenage newcommer but he managed to pull off great programs and won the nationals! However... upon celebrating his win, he was booed by the audience, majorly by Daisuke's fans, who didn't agree with the judging and could not accept having a young boy stand over the favorite of the championships. This is Yuzu on the podium, feeling almost APOLOGETIC that he won the title, the outcry made him feel undeserving of the title, he was looking at Daisuke standing below him so shamefully and sadly This footage always breaks my heart • Look how the tables have turned now!! He is loved and adored by the whole nation, and the whole WORLD for that matter!
