The story behind this photo is Al Moreley who was ling time companion of actress Ann Rutherford, who portrayed Carreen O’Hara , Scarlett’s youngest sister. In the 1950s, Moreley was in New York, where the Olivier’s were staying. He sent the still to their hotel room requesting it be signed. Restoration by VLC Member Andrew @andygbatt. “These official portraits of Vivien with Marlon on the Streetcar set have deteriorated over time (See Picture 2) and the colour balance no longer represents the slides original appearance. The process in restoring colour is always time consuming; I usually start by almost totally removing the dominant colour, and then slowly resetting all the colours one by one. This will give you a rough benchmark image, on which you can save further alterations: It might be that you have to save several different variants of your benchmark image and then assemble a composite- because you may get the colour of the clothes ‘just right’ but then the facial tones will be wrong, so you will need to combine two or more images to get a fully representative image. You then may want to highlight certain features with a more intense colour which will add a bit of contrast and depth- for example making lips ‘pop’ by increasing the density of their shade.
