Here is some prep that I do before attempting to drop back into bridge. I initially use my arms to help send my chest forward and accentuate the backbend. I like to try a couple of drop backs with my hands on the back of my thighs for support initially and then when I feel confident I move my arms above my head.

I can drop back and kick over separately now, I just need to put the components together. I think back flexibility and also fear are holding me back, but I figure if I keep doing it then both those things will eventually get better. Confidence is key with this one. Can’t wait to get it! .

From the supine position, press your lower back into the floor, hinge at the hips at lift smoothly with control into a tuck up. From the top of the tuck, place the hands behind you with fingers pointing backwards and lift up into the table hold. .

There is a direct correlation between reduced shoulder range/active control and shoulder dysfunction/pain. If your joints are not moving as freely as they are designed to, dysfunction to some degree is already present. .

These two variations of shoulder articulation isolate the glemohumeral joint (ball and socket) and scapulo-thoracic mobility from the rest of the body.

The first variation is more challenging and requires work against gravity with more muscle activation in the body generally. .

The floor variation is a nice contrast and interesting to compare differences between a more active state and more restful state in the body generally.

We are squeezing the ball here, focusing on keeping the elbow and wrist rigid to minimise compensatory movements at these joints, as well as to activate the nervous system more maximally through what seems a simple range of motion. It is far from simple. .

Day 9 of the Forma New Year fitness challenge - chest to wall balance via planche. This is a great alignment and balance drill. Lean forward until your hips stack over your shoulders and your feet feel light on the wall, then try and find your straight line. Make sure you warm up wrists and have a spotter before you try. This has been a good wrist and shoulder strengthener for me. .

Day 11 of the Forma New Year fitness challenge - v-sits with a strap. You have to try and get the strap that you are holding in both hands over your toes at the top of a v-sit. I majorly failed. I managed a few in a row but I cheated by un-pointing my toes on a couple of them. This one is about timing and technique as much as it is about strength and flexibility. It’s fun to try though. Especially when @ronnie_scottt zooms into your face at the end whilst whispering ‘sexy’.
