• • • I have been dreading today all week. Today was a huge reminder that my life has changed drastically from last year. Don't get me wrong - I'm by no means sad about this change - I just don't adapt well to change if you haven't noticed. (I can't even accept my body has changed when I've made those changes ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️) Just another thing to work on in life. • So today I focused on myself. I went and got a manicure and pedicure, went shopping and bought lots of new clothes that actually fit (down ANOTHER size!!! ) and of course made my way to the gym. No self care day is ever complete without a gym session, right? • The things I miss from last year, I'll have back soon ... Just the tables turned a bit ... Normal does not mean optimal! Your doctor ‍⚕️ tells you your labs are normal, but you don’t feel normal. After all why else would you be at your doctors office. You have low energy borderline exhausted and you’ve been pushing through for a while. Your hair appears to be thinning and the weight on the scale keeps creeping up. You exercise more and eat less but you’re not seeing the results you used to see for the same effort. You are frustrated, tired and your gut telling you there is something wrong. And Something is wrong! If you only order TSH for thyroid function you’re missing the whole picture. You need a full thyroid panel that includes rT3, T4, T4, anti-TPO and anti-TG antibodies as well as Iron Panel, Vitmain D, RBC magnesium etc. In addition to a full panel remember “normal” may not be optimal for you. If you still feel awful even though you’re “normal” that is not okay. Keep in mind the normal reference ranges keep changing and are not a reflection of ideal health or disease prevention.
