What a morning, alone and totally isolated, I awoke to the sound of ancient pencil pines rustling in the wind. The sun hadn't risen, but there was just enough light to make out wombats grazing on the outskirts of the forest. I sat and watched as the first rays illuminated Solomon's Throne. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is the first image I've posted from my solo hiking trip through Tasmania. I spent one month alone in the wilderness. Looking forward to sharing more of my experiences in this truly incredible place.

After a long day hiking, the sun had finally set, I still had a considerable distance to cover to get to my camping destination. With the light fading, I turned on my head torch and continued trekking through the night. After sometime I came across these trees. The trunks of the King Billy pines caught the light of my head torch and I instantly knew a had to come back at first light. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The next morning I eagerly awoke to start my trek, only to be disappointed by the pitter-patter of rain. I decided to stay put in my sleeping bag and ended up falling back asleep. This time, when I awoke there was nothing but silence. When I stepped outside, fog had engulfed the landscape. All around me clumps of fog stay suspended in time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As I walked to the King Billy pines, I pinched myself thinking I must still be dreaming. One of the most surreal feelings I’ve ever experienced.

Located in Torndirrup National Park in Albany, the Bald Head Walk Trail is a moderately challenging 12.5 kilometre return hike, providing stunning views of the Southern Ocean and King George Sound. The walk generally takes between 3-6 hours and is recommended only to those with a reasonable level of fitness and experience. Oh and watch out for snakes. #worldparksweek This spot in NSW's glorious World Heritage listed Blue Mountains is aptly called Hanging Rock. Hanging Rock is a outstanding feature near Baltzer Lookout, at the end of Ridgewell Road, in the Blackheath area of the mountains. A huge, overhanging block of sandstone over 100m high, jutting out into the Grose Valley, has become detached from the main cliff. It is also the site of the main climbing scene in "The Edge" movie. From here you can get a pretty good idea of why the Blue Mountains are loved so much by Australians. Be careful though!
