Fuck you universe... or should I say thank you? This afternoon I was told my routine IVF ultrasound this morning showed I have a blood clot inside my pelvic vein. I was told to go to emergency immediately for an ultrasound to check what was happening. I am at the hospital now. When I walked in I had a panic attack. So many flashbacks to losing Mackenzie rushed at me. All I could do was cry as they admitted me, telling them my name through my tears. A few scans later and yes I have a blood clot in my vein. We are lucky they caught it. It could have travelled to my heart and caused a pulmonary embolism. So I am thankful. This round of IVF has officially been cancelled though. All those eggs are gone. But all I care about is my womb. I wailed to the doctor and my fertility specialist on the phone "just tell me my uterus will be ok". The answer appears to be yes. I am laying here waiting for blood test results about my kidney and liver function before I get given some medication. All being well I will start a 6 week course of anticoagulants to stop the clot from getting bigger or travelling. I am lucky it was found but I wish the world would pick on someone else for a little while. I am tired. Please give me a chance world. New interns at work today.

Prior to meeting my wife @kendallmena5 , I went at this alone. It was 3 1/2 years of a relentless desire to help others. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I was Spider-Man in parts of the nation and world I never thought I'd find myself. Ive seen so much joy, love, and light, but its come at a price because there's always a dark side of things. Ive held infants hooked to tons of wires and tubes who were born with a heart outside of their bodies. Ive whispered hope in the ears of children with huge staples holding their scalps together. Ive been there when children have awaken from surgeries as new amputees. Ive walked through wards filled with dozens of children who were born so disfigured, they'll never know a normal life, cant do ANYTHING by themselves, and their families left them to live in a bed thousands of miles away from the nearest relative. Ive held children and have watched the life leave their eyes and breath forever exit their lungs. All of this and more changed me. It took a toll and took huge pieces of me that I'll never get back. My wife has cried when ive been at home at my worst because she says the world doesnt know just how much I gave away of myself. So when she came to me and expressed the want to suit up, my first response was "no" to protect her. She was persistent and I finally realized, I'll be here to help her in ways I couldn't help myself. To know what the consequences could be yet still choosing to suit up because of what it does for the kids makes her my hero. Her courage and bravery inspires me daily.
