On our last evening, we took a stroll by the portion of 新安江 nearest our hotel and came across this beautifully lit pedestrian bridge. 新安江 Xin’an River originates from Xiuning County, Huizhou district, Huangshan city. The river flows to the western part of Zhejiang province (where 千岛湖 is) before meeting Lan River (兰江), then flows eastwards into Fuchun River (富春江) which flows north east into Qiantang River (钱唐江). Our trip to 黄山 while not a foodie trip, allowed us to try some local dishes and 糯米肉圆 was my favourite. I could have inhaled the whole basket. The glutinous rice meat ball consisted of Well marinated minced lean meat, just cooked (and still juicy) with a very thin layer of glutinous rice - the perfect protein and carb ratio for me. It was also bamboo shoot season so we had quite a few bamboo dishes including the one in 2nd pic which was cooked with preserved meat. Another dish I really enjoyed was the 豆干木耳 (last pic). 宏村 (Hongcun), a well preserved traditional village retaining the features of Anhui villages between 14th and 20th centuries, is located in Yi County, Huangshan City in South Anhui Province. The village was built by successful officials or merchants returning home from official appointments and business. Hongcun is located at the foot of a hill next to a stream which forms two pools, the Moon Pond in the centre of the age and the other to the South. Hongcun was designed by a fengshui master and had a sophisticated water system. Just one word for this magnificent #huangshanmountain #yellowmountain SUPERB, my best experience throughout this trip. More than 10000 flights of stairs, 7hrs of hiking, indeed very tiring and require high determination.
