Day 101: Sun, Nov 19, 2017.
Been an honor for me to share my perspective as an Indonesian Moslem young woman toward hijab & Islam at this First Congregational Church. Honestly, I was so nervous about this presentation regarding my very limited knowledge. However, my family, mentors, and friends supported me to do it and helped a lot. Super glad to share another point of view about the beauty of Islam. People showed their enthusiasm and warm responses. All paid off!
This day will forever linger in my memory.

Today is the kick off of International Education Week, an annual celebration of the positive impact of exchange programs. Sponsored by the @statedept’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the @usedgov, #IEW2017 begins with the release of the Open Doors Report, a comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars studying or teaching at higher education institutions in the United States, and U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit at their home colleges or universities. “When individuals go abroad to study, they make connections that broaden their worldview. They become part of an international network of people who share the experience of navigating new and unfamiliar landscapes, languages, cultures and institutions, gaining knowledge and skills, and developing resourcefulness and critical thinking abilities,” said Alyson Grunder, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). “This experience is crucial for young people who will increasingly compete and interact in an interconnected world.” Follow the week’s activities and updates by checking out #IEW2017 on social media. #OpenDoorsReport #ExchangeOurWorld
What will you share during #IEW2017? During a presentation in her psychology class, #FLEXProgram student Rumiya discussed Tajik people. She writes, "My first country presentation was amazing because I got too much energy from my audience. My class was so enthusiastic and willed to learn more and more about Tajikistan. As I did my first country presentation, during my Psychology class my main theme was PEOPLE. By this presentation I was trying to explain what are Tajik people look like, what are some differences and similarities between people of the US and Tajikistan, I made an accent on diversity of my home country. Based on all that energy, friendly attitude and smiles I think today's presentation will leave positive impression for a long time. Can't way for the next step✈️ P.S: thank you for my friend on being my Pamirian model!" #FLEXisIEW Photo: @rumiyan_
