Man-morlak or man-djiribitj?
In the Maningrida region, we do have two species of ’Kakadu plums’ (terminalia ferdinandiana): in the Kuninjku language the better-known tall tree called Man-morlak and a short scrub called Man-djirripirj. We did have both sub-species recently tested (thank you @kakaduplumalliance !) and we can confirm that both species have exactly the same very high amount of vitamin C. They have both been used as bush medicine for thousands of years.

Repost OTAHPIAAKI 2019 CALL FOR DESIGNER APPLICATIONS
It is with pleasure that we welcome you to Otahpiaaki 2019: Indigenous Beauty, Fashion & Design Week. Our runway in Mohkinstsis/Calgary, will feature designer ateliers and literary features at the newly opened, state-of-the-art Central Public Library.
This year, Otahpiaaki will be accepting designer applications. Please note that if accepted, your work may be on the Mohkinstsis runway, part of a Mohkinstsis standing showcase, or a community showcase outside of Mohkinstsis.

Bobo márdakudj! // goodbye Kakadu plums, in Ndjébbana, the language of the traditional owners of Maningrida.
We are excited today to send our order of one tonne of Kakadu plums out on the Maningrida barge going to a wholesaler based in Darwin.
This is our largest order to date, and harvesting all these plums was a community-wide effort, with people from all the language groups around Maningrida supplying plums to us. 70% of the income from this sale returning directly back to our harvesters.
