Happy Monday! . I know, I know. Very few people are thrilled about Mondays, but I just wanted to share my story with you in light of #motivationmonday ! . I have always loved fashion. It's in my blood. On my 2nd birthday, I got a bunch of toys and clothes. I gravitated more towards the clothes. I remember when I was really young, my parents would take me to arts and crafts store and I would always beg them for a sewing machine, but I wasn't allowed. Out of all the things in the store, I was always drawn towards the sewing machine & would always go back to it. No one else in my family sews so it was a little out of the blue.. . So my fashion journey really started in 2010... I was in 8th grade & wanted something to focus on careerwise. My parents told me that I had always been interested in fashion & encouraged me to look into it. I began researching the fashion industry & wrote a couple research papers on the fashion industry for a class & my parents bought me my first sketchbook. By the end of middle school, I was already set on fashion. Then, in 2011, in my freshman year of high school, I took my first fashion class & I learned how to sew! I continued to sew on my spare time. 7 years later (technically 8 years) I must say that I have progressed so much and so quickly; not because I'm a natural, but because I keep practicing & trying to perfect my craft with every new piece I make. I love to challenge myself to make a more complex piece look better than the one I did before & I'm still improving. This is only the beginning I chose what I wanted to focus my energy on. Set your goals and stick with them! Don't get distracted. Practice makes you better and nothing beats hard work! Thanks for reading. -Daria

Day 13 @yarnlovechallenge - Publication Well surprisingly enough there is not a crochet mag in sight at the moment. Mainly because it hasn’t arrived yet this month . I’m currently working my way through ‘In the moment’ which is a great way to find mindful ways to live your life. I’m a huge fan of mindfulness and practice it every day. It can be when I’m drinking that first cup of tea or coffee of the day in appreciating it’s smell and flavour and even the texture or when I’m crocheting thinking about how the yarn feels in my hands, the way the colour changes throughout the ball, breathing when you make a stitch and breathing out when you make the next one. Mindfulness is an integral part of my life and helps me appreciate everything I do and see. So a few weeks ago, I just closed my eyes for a second and I envisioned this beautiful dress along with all the materials, colors and details that I'd want to include in the dress. Before I forgot all the details of the dress that I had designed in my head, I quickly sketched it out on paper.
