Is there a shooting location which you consider your white whale? Its good capture so elusive, that you get slightly obsessed over it...? I try not to turn photography into a task but I’ve got to admit I have a few of those in and out of the city. ✧ A perfect example would be the archway on John Street. I pass by it every day. I’ve seen great photos of it. Incredibly lined arches framing a cool element in the distance. Well, it didn’t happen to me. Not the 1st time, not the 21st time ‍♀️ I tried shooting them from every angle imaginable and it just didn’t do it for me... till two nights ago when I went sunset chasing. Now, they may not be the hero of the photo. Hell, you will all probably be looking at that cotton candy cloud but my eyes go straight to them and in my mind, they’ve been ✔️-ed. ✧ The archway connects the original Glasgow City Chambers (built 1882-1890) to the eastern wing which was added 1914-1923. I scrolled down my grid today and was really close fo creating a highlight with Glasgow bridges only And why shouldn’t I? With Clyde and Kelvin flowing through the city, there are some fine examples here. I’ve always been fascinated by bridges from a design point of view. Today they have undoubtedly evolved far beyond mere infrastructure. In fact we can now cross 3D printed bridges, with the longest one (26 metres) being in Shanghai ✧ Kelvinbridge (on the photo) is the common name of the Great Western Bridge. A cast iron road and pedestrian bridge built in the 19th century to carry the Great Western Road (A82 road) at a high level across the River Kelvin.
