Wow it has been a log time. Anyone recognize this - - - The last time I was here was w @gaelic_storm and it made me think of this little ditty. It’s funny how sometime time and space brings perspective and new life to music. I can thank my Suzuki training for that. I’m so happy I was able to jam with my best friend @coffeewithkristi during my trip to Nashville. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. So excited to share this little video with some surprise guests - nothing like a blazing reel to celebrate today. - - This is my first St Patrick’s day in a long time not at an Irish gig. I was feeling a little lonely, but then these guys showed up to help me make this amazing version of one or Irish music’s most favorite tunes. - Want some hints about these celeb guests? Let me see... I have been a fan of these lads since 2009 - they were hugely inspirational to me as I began touring professionally. These Curtis and Juilliard grads can play circles around just about anyone. Their arrangements are to die for. PBS performances, playing with Joshua Radin... When they asked me to become the fourth member of their band, I said “lads, I can’t make you change your name just for me!” (That last one might not be true...) ... I could go on forever about them. The showman’s delight ~ another tune I am trying to learn from a Frankie Gavin recording. It is not where I want yet, but this is where I got it to today. - I have to share that I was not always able to learn by ear like this. It actually blows my mind that I am now able to listen to a recording at tempo, like Frankie’s, a learn it after just s few goes.
