He's called us to be world changers. But He also gives us a choice - we can live life half-in with Jesus, loving Him when life's good, and only earnestly seeking Him when it's not. yesterday I got a dm from a sweet follower asking a genuine, sweet question. she asked how I got to my current place of confidence. at the end, she tagged on another great question “do you still struggle with imposter syndrome sometimes?” ♡ I gave her a long answer via dm, and I’ve thought about that question a lot this morning during my time with Jesus. I could say a lot of things about this, but think it comes down to two main things: ⋙ your identity has to be ROOTED in the Lord. not man’s praise. not monetary success. nothing but Jesus and His voice, His truth. ⋙ I think there’s a slight misconception with confidence. confidence isn’t necessarily “I’ll never fail” or “they’ll love me.” I firmly believe confidence is way more often “I’ll be fine when I do” and “I’ll be great even if they don’t.” ♡ I’LL BE FINE EVEN *WHEN* I FAIL. hate to break it to ya, friend, but we’re ALL gonna fail!!!! in one way or another, at one point or another, we’re all gonna BIFF IT. but what’s the worst that could happen you get a little dirt on your knees? STAND UP. BRUSH IT OFF. KEEP RUNNING! ♡ God’s created you for something really, insanely, beautifully BIG and powerful. and if He could die an excruciatingly brutal death on a cross because He knows you’re WORTH IT... then I think it’s ABOUT TIME we starting believing that about ourselves too. He loves you more than you could ever know. He’s your proud, beaming Papa watching His baby learn how to walk. those little tumbles aren’t failures to Him. they’re growing pains + baby steps. start looking through the eyes of your Father + not the eyes of man. Update: Currently sitting on a train on my way to Switzerland... ➖ It’s been a few weeks since I have posted or shared what’s been going on in life lately and honestly it’s been so busy in the best way possible, and social media took a seat on the back burner for a bit. So I figured I would try to sum it up in some bullet points? ➖ • “woke up” on my trip to Arizona and started making some big changes in life and business. • figured out travel for 7 countries for the next 3 months. • spring cleaned HoneyBook and hired a assistant to optimize and automate my workflow. • spent a lot more time loving on my friends and family before jumping head first into wedding season. • shot my first wedding of 2019 and it was epic. • shot / edited / delivered 8 galleries in 3 weeks before leaving for an international trip of a lifetime. • photographed these beautiful bridals in front of the historic Sagrada Familia. • was in Paris, France when the Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire. • oh, and I stepped down from management at my day job so I could give majority of my focus and time to what my heart longs for most: photography. ➖ The next week is for relaxation, exploration, gratitude and new memories as we take on the adventures in new places. ➖ Is there work on this vacation? Yes, because you never stop as an entrepreneur. But it’s also okay to take some time for yourself, and to pour into your own cup, and make memories of your own. It’s all about finding the balance to appreciate and still hustle. I’ll be slow to responding to messages and emails until I get back because I am truly trying to take in all of my surroundings and not let anymore memories just pass me by. ➖ There is still so much left to share, and I mean SO much. TBH I’m a big blur of happiness after these last two weeks in Europe + feeling so grateful for the opportunity to experience so many different parts of the world in one quick trip. ➖ Last night I was going through the images from every country and just felt my eyes fill with tears. The people, the new and old friendships that were strengthened or built, the breathtaking views from all 5 countries just blew me away. I truly wish that even pictures did it justice, but being in the moment was the best experience in itself. ➖ I can so clearly remember this moment and the pounding in my chest as I walked out the doors of the Tuscan villa that Manda booked for the @styledyou_ retreat, seeing the glowing sky, and running down the hill with a glass of wine to my girls @peytoncurry and @alexaannphoto who were taking Polaroids in front of this incredible sunset. ➖ Out of every place we adventured to, this place may just take the #1 favorite spot. From the rolling hills, to the olive trees in the back yard, and the birds chirping outside your window as the sun rises every morning, I was in awe of God’s creation across the pond. ➖ This trip has left me feeling so rejuvenated and refreshed and ready to take on this next season of life. Something I have been realizing lately is to also do things for yourself and immerse yourself into things that are outside of your comfort zone. You’ll surprise yourself by what you are capable of. ➖ I feel like we get so caught up in the hustle and working 24/7 and forget to take a break to go outside of our every day routines. This trip made me realize that we should all make time for a little vacation and set goals to cross off those locations on your bucket lists. When you get a taste of reaching that goal, it makes you want to work harder to get to the next one. ➖ My challenge to you is to sit down and write out your dreams, and make a plan on how you are going to get there. Come up with a plan B & C in case plan A doesn’t work. Look at any setback as an opportunity to learn from that mistake to find another way to grow. I promise you that all of your dreams are within reach, you just gotta grind to go get it.
