We were doing a homestay at the Amantani Island, located in the Lake Titicaca in Peru. The island is three hours away, by slow boat, from the closest city and barely developed, but we didn’t care, because we went there to spend a night with a local family. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After a full day of hiking, eating, dancing, and exhausting ourselves in the thin oxygen environment, my friend @hiram_hernandez tells me, “let’s shoot some starts!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We had already given it a try earlier that night with satisfactory results, but we did not expect to see the sky as bright, starry, and as beautiful as it was that night. When you think of Peru do you think of islands?  Taquile is an island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca 28 miles offshore from the city of Puno. Only about 2,200 people live on the island. There is nothing to do except for eating incredibly delicious trout, fresh from the lake.
