Hi again! It’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve kept my stories coming but I just haven’t felt like posting. Mostly because I haven’t felt like myself. I also haven’t felt like doing a lot of things. I can chalk it up to having to deal with a lot of life changes that came my way this year. I had surgery. Specifically, a blepharoplasty to remove the bags under my eyes that had troubled me all my life. Recovering from that while shooting a series made it extra hard, but I did well, puffy-face and all. Taking the time off to recover when I could was necessary but it felt like I was sitting down in the middle of a race. And THAT’S when it hit me. I was racing. But let me take it back a little. Once Eye was fully recovered, (see what I did there? I’m punny) I got back to work and I landed a sweet booking from my agent, @lindamcalistertalent with #PizzaHut. I play #MonicaRGM I was hired in February and I am still working weekly with #TheHut and I am super grateful. In betwixt all this, plenty more came my way: many successful auditions with unsuccessful bookings; a couple of jobs outside of acting and in production like, wardrobe and assistant directing, (both incredibly great learning lessons) and then a sudden move, we changed addresses from idea to implementation to completion, in 1 week! We also got a new car (or a new car note tbh) and finally, my husband has been working about 70-80hrs a week since January. So it’s not surprising I haven’t felt quite like myself this year. And it’s okay!! Back to the race thing, I realized that I had fallen into the same mental rut that so many other actors fall into specifically when there’s a break like for winter, or for summer. This “racing” mentality or stream of consciousness that makes you doubt yourself when you just walked out of a wonderful audition into the crowd of beautiful, adoring, hopeful faces of your clones, if you squint a little. Clones that have the same wishes you do. Clones that booked that other job you thought you aced. Clones whose wardrobe and personality you wish you had. But I digress. This mentality, was devastating me. Truth is, they are not my clones. & I’m not theirs...⬇️
