- As plastic pollution becomes a more and more urgent issue, it’s so important that we do whatever we can to limit our impact. There are some forms of plastic that can be pretty challenging to stop using—I mean, our society is practically drowning in it because it’s EVERYWHERE—but there are many forms of plastic that is relatively easy to stop using...or at the VERY least cut back on. And that’s single-use plastic ⠀ ⠀ Single-use plastic, as its name implies, is only used once and then thrown “away”, remaining on this planet for YEARS—whether in landfills, in nature, or in the stomachs of animals who mistake it for food. Personally, I’ve found that straws were the easiest to stop using. And that’s a great first step! But what else BEYOND that should be heavily reduced? Plastic bags, plastic water bottles, plastic forks and spoons, plastic beverage cups and lids, plastic plates, plastic ziplock bags...If you haven’t already reduced all of these, pick one to work on next! ⠀ ⠀ Again, this is a pressing issue. It may appear insignificant to us now, but we’re already getting horrible glimpses of the effects that heavy amounts of plastic has on our environment.
