There is extremely little else anyone can add to the mystique or myth alike of Joy Division. In essence you need Closer and Unknown Pleasures (add Love will tear us apart, one of history’s saddest love songs), and you actually have the whole story of Joy Division. By now very few people don’t know that Unknown Pleasures is the debut studio album by English rock band Joy Division. It was recorded at Strawberry Studios in Stockport in April 1979, with Martin Hannett as producer, and was released on June 15, 1979 by Factory Records. Forty years! Eagerly awaited is the fortieth anniversary release of this important and highly influential debut album that will be released on the 14th of June 2019. Where the intended release should have been white with black line art, it will now eventually be released with its original design intact on a 180g pressing and Ruby Red vinyl.
