Nicole Beno, the winner of the ARTSEEURBAN road-way mural competition has designed this exciting new 18-meter public art piece with the market in mind: . “The sounds, smells, sights, touch, and tastes. People having conversations; music playing in the background; espressos; fresh bread; and the array of Gladiolus flowers in pink, purple, orange and yellow. I took notice of feelings I get at the market. A feeling of community and diversity, connecting with people I've haven't seen in a while, or familiar faces.” . The launch party with live music, food and games for “Market Walk” is happening June 26th from 4-8pm. . This project is the result of the Shape DTK initiative, which focuses on creating fun, vibrant streets where people can gather and experience their community. They aim to engage the community through art to foster heartfelt urban experiences, particularly in the east end of the Downtown. . "I wanted to create it so that every time you see it, you pick out something new," said Beno. . @nicole_beno is an accomplished local artist and designer whose work has been featured in Nuit Blanche, CAFKA, and various hotels and businesses.
