#Repost @waltgracevintage with @get_repost ・・・ #Available | Talk about a guitar that needs no introduction—Perhaps as well known as the man himself, Eddie Van Halen’s infamous red, black and white “Super Strat" has been cemented in history as one of the most iconic guitars ever created. Dubbed “Frankenstein” (or more affectionately, the Frankenstrat), is the product of creativity, necessity, and some good ol’ dumb luck. See, Eddie knew basically what he wanted, but no one had made the guitar he was looking for—so he made it himself!⁣ ⁣ Combining the best from both Gibson and Fender, he created an absolute beast of a guitar. It boasts an ash body and maple neck (crafted by Wayne Charvel and Lynn Ellsworth), a tremolo system from a ’58 strat (since replaced with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo system), and a self-applied custom finish using Schwinn bicycle paint. Most notably, he took a P-90 from a ’68 Goldtop Les Paul and a PAF from an ES-335 (later replaced by a Seymour Duncan humbucker) and wired them together in one large circuit, creating the tone that would become his calling card for the rest of his career.⁣ ⁣ Many people don’t know/realize that this famous version of Eddie’s FrankenStrat is actually the very same guitar as both the black guitar he used in the “backyard party” days and the same guitar as the white with black stripes that was featured on the cover of Van Halen’s debut album. Always the tinkerer, Eddie continued to experiment and evolve the same guitar until finally settling on the version pictured here.⁣ ⁣ The guitar was never exactly replicated until 2007, when Eddie signed a deal with Fender and released only 300 of these bad boys.
