All my life I’ve been a migraine sufferer, since I was knee high I’d say to my mum “mummy I’ve got a tummy ache in my head”, because I was too young to understand what a migraine was...then 13 years ago I became a chronic migraine sufferer and I can tell you the pain never gets easier you don’t ever get used to it, each day when I wake up it’s still a shock to the system and I’m still overcome by the excruciating pain. It was in January of 2011, I first uttered the words "my head hurts," my life changing from there on out. Only lasting for about a week, the headache seemed to simply fade away before returning three months later. It was just about to fade away again, when I suffered an excruciating blow to the back of the head by an overthrown softball. • It hasn't gone away since. That was 8 years ago. • The two words "eight years" seems to not embody the struggle and the fight of getting out of bed every single day, in excruciating pain, ready to face another day. Sleepless nights, unanswered questions, countless medications, agonizing emergency room visits, expensive medical bills, empty promises, perplexed doctors, and no relief -- eight years isn't just 10 letters. • I have an Intractable Migraine -- a migraine that lasts longer than 72 hours, without aura, and is notoriously difficult to treat due to not responding to treatments. One day I hope to be able to break the migraine and slowly reach a place of remission.
