I chose Camel (Ustrasana) — This asana strengthens the lower back, thighs, and legs while opening and invigorating the heart chakra. In Downward Dog & Puppy Dog it’s easy to distort these poses & possibly miss some of the benefits if we’re unaware or living in a hyper mobile body. . @ruthsteel_ . Gravity pulls the weaker areas, ribs & shoulders, meaning they may collapse towards the ground. . I know there’s a million and one things to think about in just one or two simple poses (figuring out how to just breathe in downward dog still feels like it was just yesterday) And while the over extended variations might looks nice & bendy or be fun to explore, without coming back & strengthening the foundations - we are more at risk of weakening the stability muscles & over-stretching the ligaments . Swipe for all variations in a sped up practice, bare in mind the the cross & ✅ in the tutorial don’t mean that the overextended version is wrong...rather, I like to start at the foundations (the poses on the right hand side) then keep the core engaged & ribs hugging towards hips to find more stability, no matter how shallow or deep the body is curious to go on that day! .
