At number 10 on My Favorite Foreign Films list is “The Chorus,” a French film released in 2004. The story takes place at a school for troubled boys in the French countryside, run by an egotistical strict disciplinarian named M. Rachin. Under Rachin’s rule the boys continuously act out despite the severe consequences. His methods for discipline do not seem to be working but  when a new supervisor shows up to the school named M. Clement Mathieu, a middle aged man who is grasping at finding his place in the world after a series of failed endeavors, brings with him a new method of discipline that begins to change the overall atmosphere of the school. This is an incredibly entertaining film, filled with characters that are easy to enjoy. I found it to be a cross between “Mr. Holland’s Opus” and the Morgan Freeman film “Lean on Me.” A good willed man dealing with the frustrations of life connects with kids who are heading down a dangerous road and tries to correct their course. It’s a great story and it’s told well. It is a film you just feel better after watching. It is one of those stories I just didn’t want to end. It is a story we have all seen before but with the French humor, incredible music, and endearing characters it never gets old when told in such a unique way. The director of this film, Christophe Barratier, went on to direct two more films I really enjoyed entitled “Paris 36” and remade “War of the Buttons.” He has an incredible visual sense that make his pictures feel warm and invite his audience to live in his stories. If you get a chance just watch the trailer for “Paris 36” you will see the romantic images he creates of Paris and the theater that I can’t help but want to stare at. Each of his films are filled with characters you carry with you. I cannot recommend his stories enough. I suggest starting out with his film “The Chorus” and if it is your taste then continue on to “Paris 36” and “War of the Buttons.” I hope you enjoy these films as much as I have. . . . . #thechorus #paris36 #warofthebuttons #christophebarratier #gerardjugnot #luckyboyreviews #thereisstillmagicinthemovies #moviesmagic #foreignfilms #frenchfilm #frenchfilms

I just read some pretty disappointing news for 90’s kids that I wanted some opinions on. Apparently David Mickey Evans,writer/director of the original 1993 film “The Sandlot,” is creating a sequel tv series to the film with the original cast. The series will be set in 1984 with the boys all grown up with children of their own. It will air on a steaming platform but Evans has not revealed which one. One of the main reasons this bothers me is that the original film ends with Smalls letting the audience know what happened with the original crew over the years. We then see him announcing a Dodgers game with Benny “The Jet” playing pro ball. That was the perfect way to end the film. If this is really happening I hope it’s done well cause this is still a classic I watch every summer. I hope they do the movie justice and don’t make it cheesy. There is so many ways this can go wrong that I hope it just doesn’t ruin the nostalgia we have for the original film. What does everyone think about “The Sandlot” being made into a tv show with the original crew? My first real concern is... is Wendy Peffercorn coming back? Oiling, lotioning, lotioning, oiling... I cant take it anymore! . . . . #thesandlot #thesandlotmovie #yourkillingmesmalls #wendypeffercorn #oilinglotioning #thegreatbambino #90sfilm #luckyboyreviews #thereisstillmagicinthemovies #moviesmagic #bennythejetrodriguez #smoreofwhat #baseball #classicfilm #90snostalgia #thesandlottvseries #sandlottvseries #movienews #moviebuff #movielover #fanart #movieart

Just saw “LEGO Movie: The Second Part” and it’s incredibly awesome. It is A.DD. covered in sugar and then lit on fire until it hardens to crystallized sweetness. This movie is nonstop motion and jokes that are fired off so quickly it will take multiple viewings to appreciate them all. Ultimately I really enjoyed this movie. This sequel is a ton of fun. It is a very self aware comedy with a timely message at its core. If you enjoyed the first “LEGO Movie” you will most certainly enjoy the sequel. It’s a whole lot more awesome with a whole lot of heart. . . . . #legomovie #legomovie2 #legomoviethesecondpart #thesecondpart #chrispratt #luckyboyreviews #thereisstillmagicinthemovies #moviesmagic #mikemitchell #phillord #christophermiller #elizabethbanks #willarnett #tiffanyhaddish #alisonbrie #nickofferman #charlieday #willferrell #mayarudolph #jonahhill #channingtatum #brucewillis #moviereview #moviebuff #kidsmovie #cinephile #moviecritic

This time the audience will be able to see me in the role of Stanislav Pavlovich (Tasik), whose image in the film directed by Nikita Mikhalkov "Relatives" (1981) was created by a brilliant actor Yuri Bogatyrev. #первыйканал #1ый #тв #новыйпроект #главнаяроль #родня #богатырёв #магиякино #аскольд #запашный #firstchannel #1st #tv #newproject #mainrole #relatives #moviesmagic #askold #zapashny

At number 8 on My Favorite Directors List is Cameron Crowe. I know he may be the most controversial director on my list, especially when you see who has been left off but he has made 3 of my Top All-Time Favorite Movies: “Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous” and “Vanilla Sky.” I understand him as a writer/director. His whole life has been guided but his love for rock music as much as mine has been guided by movies. There is a scene in “Almost Famous” where young William is left his sisters rock albums and he is consumed by them. He begins internalizing their cover art, soaking in every piece of the image and the music becomes a huge part of his identity. He falls in love. I remember that exact moment in my childhood walking down the isles of my local video store just internalizing the VHS box covers. Every aisle was a different genre: horror, comedy, drama, action, romance, and classics. I wondered what stories lie in every box. I have made it a point in my life to find out about nearly every one. Crowe’s career is driven by passion. He tells stories that are soaked in pop culture. He puts rock music to a scene better than any director working today. He often writes his scenes based on the mood/tone of the song he knows portrays the emotion he is trying to get across. He is someone that I would love to take a road trip with and I know the music he would choose, the conversation we would have would be something I would cherish. The music from that trip would then bookmark that period in time in my life. I think every film lover has a movie that they closely relate to a character. For a lot of my friends, that character tends to be Charlie (Logan Lerman) from “Perks of Being a Wallflower” or Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) from “500 Days of Summer.” For me it Jerry Maguire from “Jerry Maguire.” I understand that character in a very deep-rooted way and I believe Cameron Crowe does as well. There is something about Crowe I just get and I love the stories he chooses to tell. I hope he makes a comeback. I really do. I think it will be years but the story he needs to tell will come to him. It is probably developing now. It will be something personal that he needs to share...

Today I could not be lazier. It is 2pm and I haven’t gotten out of bed and it has been amazing. I have decided that Sunday’s I am not going to watch any new movies. Since I have started this Instagram I have been seeing everything recent and anything new that is on any streaming service. A lot of it is garbage with a few gems sprinkled in. But from now on I will spend my Sunday’s catching up on films I have been meaning to rewatch and remember enjoying. Today I am starting with Woody Allen’s “Cafe Society.” This film takes place in Hollywood in the 1930’s and has an incredible Romantic quality to it. The opening line of the film is: “When the sun starts to dip in the Hollywood hills the light often takes on the saturated loveliness of color by technicolor. The homes of the movie stars in the late 1930’s said to be fabulous... were. And the cocktail and dinner gatherings saw the film colonies creme de la creme drinking highballs, exchanging rumors, making deals and trading gossip” The story follows a young man from the Bronx who moves out to Hollywood and fall in love with a girl who is seeing a married man. It’s a romantic story set in my favorite era of Hollywood style and glamour. Allen covers every frame with Hollywood’s sun soaked golden shine and gives us a nice little story to get lost in for an hour and half. This is not his best movie and I am not a fan of the ending but it is charming enough and the style and setting is really what I enjoy most. So on a lazy sunday indoors this is the perfect film to relax to. . . . #cafesociety #woodyallen #jesseeisenberg #kristenstewart #stevecarell #blakelively #hollywood #1930s #1930shollywood #technicolor #classicfilm #goldeneraofhollywood #goldenageofhollywood #luckyboyreviews #thereisstillmagicinthemovies #moviesmagic #movielover #filmbuff #moviereview #movielovers #academyawards #theoscars #hollywoodblvd #midnightinparis #anniehall #wonderwheel #magicinthemoonlight #bluejasmine

The eighth and the last episode for the "1st" tv channel's (Russia) project "Main role", based on the movie "Native among strangers, a stranger among natives." Perhaps this is my favorite episode, and for it, first of all, I have to say thanks to a great friend of our family and incredible Director Alexander Strizhenov. It was him, who insisted on this choice, deciding that an open emotion would be interesting for me to play comparing to all my previous works in this project. I was very worried that there would be a big difference between shooting in the pavilion and the original, shot on nature location by the brilliant Director Nikita Mikhalkov. However, the result shows that a team of real professionals worked on this wonderfull project. For what to them special big thanks! #1ыйканал #тв #главнаяроль #новыйпроект #финал #аскольд #запашный #свойсредичужих #чужойсредисвоих #магиякино #1stchannel #tv #mainrole #newproject #final #askold #zapashny #moviesmagic
