I love that: mum has created a play area they cannot get out of, with only their toys or safe things around them. Baby proofing she actually manages to go off and do other things in the kitchen while they are awake and playing with toys! And the number 1 struggle is….. MOTIVATION & finding it! ‍♀️ . We ALL struggle & what motivates us one week, is not necessarily the same the following week! Then we give up….Lots of people share with me their ongoing battle. Popular motivators come from a wish to be healthy or to live longer for their kids. For many peeps losing weight is the goal or a growth in confidence Many of us believe motivation will come to us if we wait long enough - you know someday we'll wake up & finally want to exercise! The reality motivation is something we CAN & NEED to create for ourselves. Also a recognition that it WILL change & we NEED to adapt accordingly. Over the next few posts I’ll share some of the ideas I use to help create my motivation, maybe you'll find it easier to stick with exercise if you try it too?! ‍♀️You’ll start to see the results of your efforts & this may help fuel your will to keep going & how to ride on the struggle bus when it pops along one day. . . First step have something to work for, whether its a weight loss goal or a goal to run a marathon - anything that gives you a reason to exercise will work. Also don't think you have to set only one goal - set as many as you like, WHENEVER you like. Set daily goals (I'll walk for 20 minutes today) weekly goals (I'll get a minimum of 3 workouts in this week) or even hourly goals (I'll get up every 45 minutes & walk around the building). ALWAYS having something to work for, big or small, will keep you going. WRITE IT DOWN. Yes, I did emphasise that: WRITE IT DOWN. . Once you've decided to exercise, make it as easy as possible to follow through. Have what you need & get it all ready in advance - pack your gym bag the night before, prep any meals or snacks so you can grab them & go, & plan what workout you'll do on a given day (if I don’t do this I’m dithering around for 10 mins thinking what one shall I do?) Find ways you can be ready for your workout & be creative to fit it in - I am not kidding you I did a workout next to the kitchen table whilst helping the kids doing homework #multitaskingmum . Evening all, Nothing much going on today, a trip to the doctors finally got an appointment for my eldest and then a quick scoot for some Easter treats. Some housework and an afternoon spent reading my latest book whilst the LO was sleeping! I went out like this today and didn't wear a Jacket woohoo! The realities of being a working mum are already hitting thick and fast. Having started the day on very little sleep, I’ve lugged a massive overnight bag across London to my new job. They must have thought I was a total diva needing all my home comforts for one night; the reality is there’s barely anything other than a spare pair of pants, some dry shampoo and a hospital-grade breast pump the size and weight of a car battery in my bag! So this is me, sat in a vacant boardroom in BAFTA’s HQ, pumping milk in between conference talks. Soon I’ll head back into a room full of people to network, with a fresh pair of breast pads and marginally less melon-like boobs, acting like I haven’t just sat for 20 minutes milking myself like a dairy cow.
