Circé ✨ Hello #bookstagram! J’espère que vous allez bien! Je viens de terminer Circé et je peux vous dire que j’ai adoré ce livre! ⭐️ Circé est une nymphe-sorcière et la fille du Titan Hélios ainsi que de la nymphe Persé. Son enfance chez les Titans est loin d’être facile et les débuts de sa vie d’adulte commencent par un exil forcé sur une île. Au lieu de se morfondre, Circé va vivre sa vie au gré de ses envies, évoluant dans les histoires mythologiques avec détermination et sagesse démontrant ainsi à ses pairs qu’elle est une femme sensible, libre, indépendante et puissante. J’ai adoré cette lecture parce que je suis tout d’abord, une fan de mythologie depuis que je suis enfant. J’ai donc adoré retrouver, dans ce roman, tous les personnages mythologiques et les histoires que j’ai tant aimé découvrir dans ma jeunesse: les Titans, les Dieux de l’Olympe, Ulysse, Athéna, Hermès, Dédale, la guerre de Troie, et j’en passe… De plus, Circé est non seulement un roman en lien avec la mythologie, mais c’est aussi l’histoire de la vie d’une jeune femme, forte, indépendante et captivante. Je vous conseille cette lecture fascinante, à la fois classique et moderne et de découvrir ainsi le personnage mythique qu’est Circé. Cependant, je pense qu’un minimum d’intérêt pour les histoires de la mythologie ainsi que pour ses personnages est utile afin de profiter pleinement de ce roman envoûtant! ✨ Et vous? L’avez-vous lu? These are details of an incredible dyad of Amenemhat III as an offering-bearer. The pharaoh wears a long braided wig and beard. His facial features are serious with deep set eyes, high cheek bones, and over-exaggerated frown lines. He is bare-chested, wears a šndyt-kilt, and offers plates of elephantfish and garlands of lotus and pintail duck while he strides forward. The inscription down the centre reads: “May life be given to the good god (i.e. the pharaoh), son of Amun, child of Mut, Lady of Isher (The Temple of Mut at Karnak), King of Upper and Lower Egypt. The modeling of the sculpture truly mimics the verb “fAy” in Egyptian meaning “to offer.” The sculpture was discovered in Tanis, a capital city in the Third Intermediate Period. It was reinscribed by Pasebeheneniwt I (Psusennes; lit. “The Star over the City) in the 21st Dynasty. It is clear that the sculpture was originally carved in the Middle Kingdom due to its distinct facial features that were in fashion for pharaohs of the 12th Dynasty. {COUP DE CŒUR} Circé de @madeline.e.miller ❓ Aimez-vous la mythologie ? Je sais, vous devez en entendre pas mal parler ces temps-ci, mais je vous assure que ce livre vaut tout le buzz qu’il y a autour ! Je pensais mettre au minimum une semaine pour lire ce pavé et finalement j’étais tellement prise par ma lecture que je l’ai terminé en à peine trois jours. Circé vous entraîne au cœur de la mythologie grecque et vous dévoile l’histoire de cette déesse dont le livre porte le nom. Celle-ci tente en vain de se faire une place parmi les autres divinités. Moins belle et moins douée que les autres, elle reste en marge et espère se faire accepter et aimer. L’autrice parvient à nous captiver à travers les pages grâce à sa plume (traduite) épurée et maîtrisée, riche en descriptions sans en devenir lourde pour autant. Grande passionnée de mythologie, je ne connaissais pas l’histoire de Circé et j’ai apprécié découvrir un nouveau mythe tout en y retrouvant certains repères à travers divers autres récits qui viennent s’entremêler au roman. C’était fascinant, intelligent et touchant. La fin est belle et poétique. C’est un roman à découvrir sans hésiter, que l’on soit ou pas un amateur de mythologie.
