#flashback to my transitioning days ✨ *swipe* to see my transition chop and some styles I did while transitioning. I did my transition chop in June 2016 (after transitioning for a year and a half). Until my chop, and even for a while after I chopped, I did a lot of protective styles with added hair. Are there any transitioning naturals out there? What styles do you like to do for your transition? . . . . I tried to choose styles that would not require heat or too much manipulation—Braids, sleek buns, weaves. If I did the style myself, I used Marley hair (my FAVORITE type of added hair to use for kinky hair. I still have a pack in my bathroom for hair emergencies ). For the weaves I used kinky straight (which blends amazingly with transitioning hair—I usually just let my leave out air dry), or I used a wavy texture (I blended my leave out with perm rods). . . . To maintain my transitioning hair, I basically treated it like it was all natural—I made sure to wash in sections and I made sure to really keep my new growth stretched and moisturized. When ever I took out a protective style after a long time I MADE SURE to take out the extensions with a LOT of conditioner. And I rarely used combs. Back then I think I was a huge product junkie and I loved the creme of nature product lines for my transitioning hair because everything was super moisturizing.
