Today I saw my gynae consultant. It didn’t go well. He gave little to no information about the surgery, and just picked up the phone and called for someone from the ivf clinic to take me on a tour. He said that I have a low ovarian reserve and for that reason he’s making the ivf referral, as ‘time is tighter than we’d like’. He didn’t offer any feedback about surgery or the long term implications of an endometriosis diagnosis. I had to ask very specific questions to get anything out of him. I managed to learn that: • my tubes were clear • endo was removed from the back of my uterus and outside of my ovaries but hasn’t spread further than that And that’s basically it! I asked about endo moving forward and he said to go to my GP if symptoms return. He also said ‘pregnancy often cures endometriosis so hopefully ivf will be a success. If not, the pill is a good treatment’ BULL. SHIT. I’ve done enough research to know that pregnancy does not cure endometriosis. He was incredibly unhelpful and bordering on rude, and I don’t feel much better informed than I did before the appointment. So, I guess we’re having IVF. Consultation at the clinic is on the 5th of August. In the meantime, we’ll just need to find about £5000. Because of course my ccg doesn’t fund IVF . . . . #nhsivf #ivfnhs #endometriosis #endo #endometriosisawareness #endosisters #infertilityandendo #ttc #ttcsisters #ttcjourney #ttcadvice #ttcbaby #ivfjourney #ivfreferral #tryingtoconceive #tryingtogetpregnant #croydonfertility #ttcuk #ttclondon #scream4ivf #screamforivf #selffundedivf #ivflottery

I wish I could feel excited about this, I've waited a year to be able to get funding but knowing I've got to have a scan first is filling me with dread. I'm so pleased I've managed to get a funded round but I just can't see that the fibroid isn't going to be an issue. My husband and I argued on the phone earlier, I just wanted to be happy we managed to get funding but he thinks there's 'no point' as he knows what they are going to say, that I need another procedure on the fibroid first Infertility sure does suck!! As do fibroids

Day 2 of Fertility Awareness Week: This evening feeling thankful for everything. Didn’t expect to end up in Hospital this afternoon after baby’s heartbeat wasn’t quite as it should be. Thankfully he was playing tricks on us and was very active during the scans. #ivfblogger #ivfbaby #fertilityawareness #ivfmiracle #ivfjourney #pregnancy #fertilityweek18 #ivfhope #ivfcommunity #ivfstrongertogether #ivfpregnancy #scream4ivf #fertilitynetworkuk #fertilityswansea #nhsivf #babyboy #25weekspregnant

AJ and I made the decision to share our little 20 minute home video we made publicly on our Facebook. It's not even been up for 72 hours and so far it's had 826 shares, 1600 reactions and over 77,000 views, and it's still going and not slowing down!. . I was absolutely terrified to share it so publicly but now I'm reading the hundreds of comments and cannot stop crying. So many people are opening up about their own stories and struggles, with others saying their eyes have been opened up to the world of infertility and IVF . I'll be honest, I don't feel like I deserve any of this. It's just me and our story, that's all. . However, with that being said I am so proud of how much awareness this is raising, and in complete and utter shock and disbelief of it all. . I just wish I could still do more. It still doesn't feel enough compared to the millions of us who go through this crazy journey . . Conversations have got to be started and this ridiculous taboo needs to be gone. One step at a time. Every little helps . . . #infertility #infertilitysucks #infertilityawareness #infertilitycommunity #infertilitysisters #infertilitywarrior #infertilityjourney #infertilitysupport #thisisinfertility #ttc #ttcjourney #ttccommunity #1in8 #1in6 #iamnotashamed #ivf #ivfjourney #ivfcommunity #lowamh #lowmorphology #icsi #tww #nhs #otd #testday #unexplainedinfertility #bfp #nhsivf

Had my private scan this morning as I needed to know what's going on in my uterus following my last fibroid surgery in December. It wasn't all bad, the fibroid is still there which I knew it would be as its submucosal BUT it is much smaller at 1.3cm. Before the first fibroid surgery in August 17 it was 5cm, before the latest surgery it was 3cm. However being submucosal it could still cause a problem in IVF Suggestion to go ahead with IVF and possibly freeze all, treat fibroid then transfer once recovered. They will call me to discuss. However I'm still trying to trace my NHS referral but cannot get hold of anyone! Not sure whether to just go straight to private ‍♀️ Nothing is straightforward in this journey!

And just like that, the twice nightly injections are over and our egg retrieval complete. Out of our 11 follicles that had grown over the last 2 weeks, we had 9 eggs retrieved which is amazing; especially giving my AMH levels. Now at home with AJ to look after me for the next 2 days, where we anxiously wait to find out how many of our eggs successfully fertilised via ICSI tomorrow morning, and fingers crossed one makes it to transfer day No make up, high on the anaesthetic and feeling sore, but oh so happy Do you think 9 is a good number? I know for us it is with my low AMH but in general, would you class it as a good starting point? xx #infertility #infertilitysucks #infertilityawareness #infertilitycommunity #infertilitysisters #infertilitywarrior #infertilityjourney #infertilitysupport #thisisinfertility #ttc #ttcjourney #ttccommunity #1in8 #1in6 #iamnotashamed #ivf #ivfjourney #ivfcommunity #lowamh #lowmorphology #icsi #nhs #nhsivf #care #careivf #careicsi #unexplainedinfertility #eggretrievalday #buserelin #menopur

It’s been a while so here’s the update. Had appt with NHS (a cancellation) on 12th Dec. They started running tests (SA & Chromosonal) the latter will take 6 weeks. SA came back with not enough to count (great!) so we booked an appt with renowned urologist Jonathan Ramsay. He told us that NHS counts aren’t always specific when under 1m/ml so ordered more tests including ROS, Comet, SA and general sexual health work up. We have started receiving results back now - honestly none of them are great (except sexual health - all clear for STIs, yay - celebrate the small things). Count is down from 2016, 800k is now 9 motile. (Got that news before Xmas which was a gut punch!). ROS is above normal range indicating possible DNA frag but those results will be in within the next week. Meanwhile we have decided to pursue private treatment using frozen sperm from 2016. In the hopes that if that doesn’t work it will have kept us busy on something positive whilst we wait for DHs sperm to recover post probable varicocele treatment. All in all ladies a pretty rocky December but still remaining positive that I will become pregnant in 2019 watch this space! #ttc #createfertility #nhsivf #ttccommunity #ttcjourney #ttcsisters #pcos #mfi #dnafragmentation #oligozoospermia #icsi
