Everyone knows about the cherry blossoms, but who has gone to see the fantastic saucer magnolia trees? Mom took me to Rawlins Park near the White House to see these beauties. Rawlins Park is so cool because of all the birds who hang out there (birds are my favorite). ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Brother, Jensen, got to come too (although truth be told, he was annoyed that he didn't get to go away with just him and mom - if Jensen had his way, he would have left me at home). Any furfriends out there participate in obedience class?! If so, I hope you all love it as much as I do!! I'm so excited I get to go to class once a week. While my leash manners leave something to be desired outside the ring, in the ring I am usually 100% focused on my mom and the commands she is giving me (okay -- its more like 75% focused, but that's pretty good for me). ⁣ ⁣ I take obedience classes at Capital Dog Training Club (CDTC) in Silver Spring, MD. You should see me in the ring. I'm so happy to be there that I prance around (mom jokes I look like a Clydsdale horse). My absolute favorite thing to do in class is recalls, which is just a fancy way of saying mom tells me to come. Swipe to my superior recall skills.⁣ ⁣ Unfortunately, this extreme focus does not extend to other classes I take at CDTC. I've been taking agility since Feb. 2018 and I'm still in the Beginner class because while I love doing all the obstacles, I just prefer to take a little run around the room after doing each one. Mom just rolls her eyes and says no obstacle focus under her breath.⁣ ⁣ My brother, Jensen, took agility class at CDTC for over 6 years before he retired. When he was in his prime, he was really good!! Just another way for me to look up to my brother and aspire to be just like him one day. A little about me - I'm a black and white cocker who was adopted from Oldies But Goodies Cocker Spaniel Rescue (@obgcockerrescue) in July 2017. Although OBG definitely focuses on helping senior cockers, they also save young ones like me. ⁣ ⁣ Come closer - I'm going to tell you a secret not many people know. OBG also saves dogs who aren't cockers. These pups are called Honorary Cockers and OBG helps them to find their furever homes. In recent months, OBG has found furever homes for poodles, terrier mixes, Aussie mixes, etc. ⁣ ⁣ Ssshhh it's a secret - j/k tell everyone you know who might be looking to adopt a new pup because I'd love to help these Honorary Cockers find homes too!! Did you know Franciscan Monastery is dog friendly? Pups can walk around the grounds and gardens. Hi furfriends - my name is Tenley (@back2JMayer) and I live in the Tenleytown / Friendship Heights neighborhood! Last time my brother, Jensen, and I held the We the Dogs handle he was in charge and got to do all of the posts. But guess what - it's my turn now old man (brother doesn't mind if I call him old man - probably because he's deaf and can't hear me ). ⁣ ⁣ Mom has to work today so we spent the last two weekends visiting our favorite spots in DC and taking pictures. I can't wait to show them to you!⁣ ⁣ The biggest thing you should know about me is even though I'll be 5 in July, mom says I lack focus and have doggie ADHD just like a puppy. What doggie who lives in this city wouldn't lack focus? There are so many things to hear, see, and smell (am I right?). ⁣ ⁣ But there are three times I'm laser focused. I'll tell you all about them as I share my day with you. ⁣ ⁣ First up - playing with toys always always always holds my attention!! The louder more annoying the sound the more I love it. Currently Bawk Bawk the chicken is my favorite because he really bawks. I love him so much, but my love is temporary - as soon as I get a new toy that will be my favorite. I'm never more focused than when I'm in the water!! I'm so excited because its almost summertime, which means swimming, swimming, swimming. In anticipation of my favorite time of year, I just couldn't resist sharing some of my favorite swimming holes with all my new furfriends. I hope all my furfriends get out there and try swimming because it is the BEST thing ever!! Pawrents take note of all these amazing swmming spots your pup will love:⁣ ⁣ Photos 1. and 2. Hog Dog Productions in Millersville, MD - they have open swims that anyone can attend throughout the week and sometimes on the weekend - you can swim for fun or you can practice your dock diving skills (which I can't wait to try more of)⁣ ⁣ Photos 3. and 4. Annual Puppy Plunge event to benefit the SPCA of Anne Arundel County at Camp Letts in Edgewater, MD - it happens every year in August⁣ ⁣ Photo 5. Pooch Pool Party at Wheaton-Glenmont Pool - happens the weekend after Labor Day and in my opinion, its the BEST pool closing doggie swim in this area ⁣ ⁣ Photo 6. Hilton Washington DC - this fun event happens early in Nov. every year when the hotel closes their pool for the winter (don't worry - the pool is heated)⁣ ⁣ Photo 7. Pool Closing Doggie Swim at Old Town Pool in Alexandria, VA - usually happens in mid-Sept⁣ ⁣ Photos 8. and 9. Downs Park Dog Beach -- I've only gotten to go once but I had so much fun diving into the waves - I can't wait to go back many times this summer ⁣ ⁣ Photo 10. K9 Aquatic Center (@k9aquaticcenter) in Potomac, MD - this place is amazing!
