I saw this and instantly had to share it! I spoke with a patient this morning who’s had a lot of stuff going on in the last few years and she’s picked everything up after major surgery and got herself back on track to where her life was. Recently she’s aggravated an old injury and now she can’t do what she was doing. She can’t do the exercise she was doing and she’s frustrated. So what do we pretty much all do then? Our internal voice says ‘you’re going to put on weight, get lazy, get slow, have to start again’ She was worried she would be back at square one. So I told her she couldn’t be further from square one if she tried. Square one was the day we first started walking. We are our biggest critics. One of thing I see so often with my clients whether they are Osteopathy or Remedial hypnosis or myself or my friends or my family is the ability to be mean and unfair to themselves. I can guarantee if we spoke to our friends the way we speak to ourselves sometimes especially when something gets in the way or shakes us up or causes us to restructure our priorities we just get mean. Would we do that for another person? I very much doubt it. We might be firm with our support but we would know kindness would be the most appropriate. The most effective way and the best strategy. So let’s make sure we home the good tenants and kick out the bad.
