Wowza! Just now catching my breath from this fun weekend, it was non-stop go go go! I was able to spend time with some friends as well as explore a couple of new spots in Portland that I’ll be sharing more soon! Ive had so much fun meeting so many new people lately. Its so crazy how many friendships I’ve made all because of an app like Instagram. Ive always had such a bitter sweet relationship with social media for obvious reasons that you all have probably felt too, but I truly believe if used properly it can be an amazing way to meet like minded people. If there is someone that you’ve been admiring on the gram that you think you would click with, I challenge you to reach out to them this week. Grab coffee with them, invite them out with your girls, anything. Lets make social media social again!

I’m back from an amazing two weeks in New York City, Israel and Palestine! I’ll be sharing photos from the trip over the coming weeks and I wanted to start with this sunset shot looking west across the Hudson River at the skyline of Jersey City, NJ. . I’ll get into the details of the trip at a later time, but I wanted to touch on a topic that I’ve been thinking about for little bit now. When it comes to your photography, shoot and share the things that interest you and bring you joy. It sounds simple, but be yourself! . I think social media has a way of encouraging people to fit into a mold and gives labels all too easily. If you get fulfillment from shooting nature, cityscapes, people, macro, abstract, etc..do it! And share it! Don’t do it to please others because inevitably you won’t please everyone, and that’s the wrong motivation. Being a photographer means the pursuit of capturing moments and the way you enjoy that journey is yours uniquely.
