Though we picked the hottest day to visit it, I was so stunned by how creative and fun this place was. This is a mosaic maze, a wonderland with colorful creations and art works. Glass bottles, wheels, metal...Who says junks can’t be recreated into a form of art?

My friend @modbetty (of @retro_roadmap fame) reports that there was a fire yesterday at South Philly’s landmark Melrose Diner... local news sources say the damage was minimal and the owner hopes to reopen as early as next week! Thank goodness! The place is an absolute treasure, beloved in the neighborhood and they’ve got one of the greatest neon signs in Philly! Yes, another #GOAT! The history of this cute narrow street can be traced back to 1702. ❤️This is the heart of Old Town Philly, where tradesmen used to live. As you can tell, I’ve found some super colorful houses along the street.

If you identified with my last post or think you have an anxious attachment style, here are some things you might have experienced as a child: . Adults providing inconsistent and confusing caregiving. They might have been very warm,supportive, and loving in one moment and distant, cold, or even abusive in other moments. . Adults that are “out of sync” with your needs. This might mean they soothed you in the moments you didn’t really need it but weren’t soothing you when you did. An example from @frombothsidesofthecouch is a daughter that’s happily chatting with her dad and she goes to hold his hand and he pulls away and swats a fly. . Insensitive, intrusive, or overly stimulating caregiving that prevented your self regulation skills. This could include the parent responding with anxiety when you’re upset or overly soothing you. . Adult caregivers that don’t self regulate - when someone is upset they escalate with them, etc. . Adult caregivers with their own anxious attachment style (this stuff is passed down generationally - not because of genetics) . called stupid, or weak, or fragile or treated with “kid gloves” as if they were stupid, weak, or fragile. . tragic loss - You might have had lovely parents but perhaps one died or got sick. This type of uncertainty can be deeply impactful. . Abuse/Trauma . Just a reminder these things aren’t fixed and there is nothing “wrong with you”. It’s just info to help you understand why you might respond the way you do in relationships and maybe some support in helping you find more comfortable ways of connecting with others.
