Oh yeah did I mention that it's fun too!?! To progress place weighted balls in the hands! ~ ~ I call this the 5 pointed star. When you bring the arms in the center and cross midline you are nourishing the brain, bodyand nervous system in meaningful ways. ~ ~ This movement is actually based on one of the earliest movement patterns (an archetype movement) that links the core (including head and upper spine) to the limbs! ~ ~ It's an important pattern for: *development of protection and survival (I use patterns like this alot while serving those with PTSD) *development of the flexion and extension of the spine *visual convergence *INtegrating some pretty important reflexes such as the Moro, Trunk Extension, and Spinal Perez ~ ~ Pull out your Pilates Chair and give it a try!!
