Salam dan selamat pagi. So this video shows a typical ward rounds i do ,review my patient who is happy to share his post bariatric surgery progress. Xia Jian has a BMI of 40+ and has fatty liver ,OSA, Diabetes and metabolic syndrome even at a very young age of 20. The 2 part videos show my typical clinical assesment on day 1 post op. In general, the majority of my patients gets discharge on post op day 1 after sleeve gastrectomy . After discharge, all patients will be review 2 weeks after and 3 monthly. My team ,my patient and me. Just finish afternoon teaching ward round. I am so happy my patient yogheeta doing very well after a very complex total oesophagectomy for squamous cell carcinoma. She is only 34, presented with difficulty in swallowing . Endoscopy showed a tumour at the lower part of the oesophagus. CT scan showed a resctable tumour with no distant spread. It was a difficult op as the tumour was very big. So happy that she has recovered well and home she can go home soon. #UGIteamppukm #ppukm#oesophagealcancer #oesophagectomy

Kanser oesophagus adalah kanser yang ke 8 paling common di malaysia. Kadar kanser in semakin meningkat disebabkan oleh masalah obesity dan gastric refluks. Symptoms utama kanser oesophagus adalah dysphagia atau sukar untuk telan atau bila telan makanan tersangkut. Kanser ini ada 2 jenis. 1. Squamous cell carcinoma ( risiko utama adalah smoking) 2. Adenocarcinoma( risiko utama adalah obesity dan refluks) . Disebabkan kanser ini amat aggresive ,kebanyakan pesakit bila di diagnosed sudah dalam tahap atau stage 3 atau 4. Rawatan utama adalah oesophagectomy( buang kanser dan oesophagus termasuk kelenjar limpa) dan chemotherapy dan radio therapy bergantung pada tahap kanser.
