I can’t believe a whole year has passed since we found out we were pregnant with Reuben. . I’d come to terms with the fact this wasn’t happening for us. After a miscarriage and having to have another surgery for severe endometriosis I’d come to the conclusion my body was not up for making babies and carrying them to term. Even once I got that positive I didn’t quite believe it, hence all the tests. . Yet now we have the most perfect little rainbow baby ✨. Trying to conceive isn’t easy for all couples and month upon month of negative tests really takes its toll. But please don’t give up because you never know how close you might be. Twenty weeks + five days and I’ve never been so thankful to do something halfway. ... We started cleaning and organizing the nursery today (it was our catch-all room when we moved into our fixer upper last year). The feelings that came with it were much more intense than I had been expecting. ... Incredible joy that this is our reality. Raw fear that is still hanging on from our pregnancy loss last year, and the harsh fertility treatments that surrounded it. Excitement watching Lilli run around the room, talking about her baby sibling. Unexpected hesitation because what if this one doesn’t work out either? ... I found myself whispering, “I trust You. I trust You. I trust You” as we cleared boxes and organized baby items. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s our choice whether or not to trust Him, but it’s not our choice what He has planned for us, good and bad. I’ve also learned that trusting Him seems harder, but *not* trusting Him IS harder. ... So, while I beg for this fearfully and wonderfully made child to arrive safely this fall, I also pray that whatever God has planned for this baby, that it changes our family, and the Kingdom, in the very best ways. ... They’re already the most photographed babies! We had a wonderful scan today and every time I see them on the screen I start to cry. I’m so happy to see they’re doing well and moving around and their little hands and feet are moving. It makes my heart so happy. I can’t even believe how blessed I feel with these beautiful babies growing inside me. As we do more scans and get closer to the halfway point my fears melt away. They checked in at 6 and 7 ounces so they’re growing!! Our next big scan will be the anatomy scan at 20 weeks and hopefully we’ll be clear and good to go for awhile. Hoping these babies stay snug at least until 36 weeks but the doctor thinks they’ll come early.
