I remember even when Elijah was a tiny baby, one of the things I couldn't wait to get him one day was a play kitchen. We got one when he was about 18 months old and I couldn't wait to see what he did with it and how his play would evolve and grow over time. He went from constantly emptying the cupboards and banging all the pots and pans to now cooking up some delicious meals that he loves to serve to us He even pretends to clean his kitchen the way we do our real one I absolutely love watching him use his imagination when it comes to play! CAKE SHOP DRAMATIC PLAY I’m so excited...our first ever dramatic play set is HERE! . . BENEFITS OF DRAMATIC PLAY: Role play is an important part of child development, as it builds confidence, creativity communication, physical development and problem solving. . . From April right through to August we have soo many birthdays on, so the boys are always talking about cake, singing happy birthday but the best part is Elliot waking up and saying “mummy cake”! . . The boys have started to show more Interest in dramatic play and dress ups as they continue to grow, so designing this dramatic play set was super fun! . . Pretend Play . This has to be MY favourite type of play. And today was amazing because we were ALL engaged in this play together. . . I talked the other week about independent play, but let’s be honest; our kids want nothing more than to play with us and be with us. When you set aside some time to play with your kids, you should really play. Presently. I find I can be most “present” (less distracted and most engaged) when it’s something I really enjoy. And the kids are just going to be happy when I’m giving them my full attention so it’s a win-win . . . What’s your favourite type of play to do with your kids?
