"The Rosary has accompanied me in moments of joy and in moments of difficulty. To it I have entrusted any number of concerns; in it I have always found comfort...The Rosary is my favourite prayer. A marvellous prayer! Marvellous in its simplicity and its depth...Thus the simple prayer of the Rosary marks the rhythm of human life”. St. John Paul II . It was the year 352, and Our Lady appeared to a wealthy childless Roman couple telling them to build a church. The sign she would send would be snow (in Rome, where it rarely snows). She kept her promise, and on the morning of August 5, Esquiline Hill was covered in white. A summer snowfall that garnered the attention of the entire city, and inspired the construction of the magnificent Basilica of St. Mary Major, which still stands today. I’ve heard of Christmas in July, but I think this is even better. Happy Feast of Our Lady of the Snow! ❄️ . . . #catholic #catholicmom #catholicfamily #thecatholicwoman #projectblessed #bissisterhood #catholicconnect

"On the cross, Jesus is joined to His Bride, the Church, in an everlasting covenant. The wedding has begun, but is not yet fully complete. The ultimate union of God and His people will be brought to fulfillment when the Bridegroom returns and takes His Bride with Him." Theology of the Body Rosary Meditations, p. 51 . Milagro means miracle, and you gift them in times of a prayer that has been answered or when a healing has happened. For me, my vocation to marriage was both. The heart was filled with important little treasures from our relationship and notes. But it meant even more to me- it was a gift of self, a long awaited prayer for my future spouse. As I think back to this last year, it fills me with awe that we have a new little one on her way. And a whole new Milagro. A little miracle and answered prayer. May this Milagro remind you of the miracles in your own life. Ones that come during difficulty, challenge, joy, peace. He longs to fill our hearts with treasures and care, and fulfill the longings on our hearts with miracles. Photo taken by @applesgate ❤️ and you can find Milagros at @thequeenofcrowns ❤️

Happy☀️August! Did you know that the Church dedicates the month of August to the Immacute Heart of Mary? August also marks the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. ✏️ New beginnings are a great time to form new habits. ✨How about forming (or maintaining) the important habit of praying the rosary daily? . At Fatima, Mary revealed an image of her Immaculate Heart to Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco and asked us to pray the rosary every day. Are you in? . Beautiful custom rosary by @anakce

Every time I reflect on the life of Josephine Bakhita I am in awe of her. She was tormented for years by those who thought they owned her. But by choosing to live a life in Christ, she proclaimed what truly owned her: love, mercy, faith, hope, forgiveness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You might be tormented by something in your past. Know that those circumstances do not define you, they do not own you. You can choose today to let them go and to live the life you've always dreamed, a life of holiness and freedom. You are a beloved child of God for all eternity! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “If I were to meet the slave-traders who kidnapped me and even those who tortured me, I would kneel and kiss their hands, for if that did not happen, I would not be a Christian and Religious today.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Saint Josephine Bakhita, pray for us!!

Happy fourth birthday to our Ava Brooke!! She’s the kindest and spunkiest little girl who lights up a room when she walks into it. She’s obsessed with sweets (gets it from her dad) and remembers details like none other. ⁣ Sometimes I get sad thinking of the ways she’s grown to be independent, but I’m so proud of who she is becoming. And she still asks for me to lay with her every night as she falls asleep and I love it. She is one loved little lady!

While on mission we heard a really beautiful reflection on the wedding at Cana at a giant statue of Our Lady. The wedding at Cana has played a major role in my life this year so this reflection sat deeper than usual. Everyday Our Lady is doing for us what she did at Cana. She notices our need like she noticed the need of the bride and groom. She takes those needs on behalf of us to her Son. She then tells us like she told the servants, and please don’t miss this like I have been for the last few months, she says “do what he tells you.” Today on the feast day of Transfiguration the Father speaks and says “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” He makes the same plea that our Mother asks of us. I have a habit of running around the rooms in my heart trying to talk Jesus’ ear off and I don’t give room for my heart to listen. Christ speaks in the silence of our hearts and often speaks by saying nothing at all. Our Lord is not suggesting we listen to his son, he is commanding it. Remembering this, I can’t help but ask myself the question: how much listening am I actually doing in these days? #bigapplecatholic #blessedisshe #projectblessed #bissisterhood

The mystery of the Transfiguration must not be separated from the context of the path Jesus is following. He is now decisively oriented to fulfilling his mission, knowing all too well that to arrive at the Resurrection he must pass through the Passion and death on the Cross. He had spoken openly of this to his disciples; but they did not understand, on the contrary they rejected this prospect because they were not reasoning in accordance with God, but in accordance with men (cf. Mt 16:23).⠀ ⠀ It is for this reason that Jesus takes three of them with him up the mountain and reveals his divine glory, the splendour of Truth and of Love. Jesus wants this light to illuminate their hearts when they pass through the thick darkness of his Passion and death, when the folly of the Cross becomes unbearable to them. God is light, and Jesus wishes to give his closest friends the experience of this light which dwells within him.⠀ ⠀ After this event, therefore, he will be an inner light within them that can protect them from any assault of darkness. Even on the darkest of nights, Jesus is the lamp that never goes out. St Augustine sums up this mystery in beautiful words, he says: “what this sun is to the eyes of the flesh, that is [Christ] to the eyes of the heart” (Sermones 78, 2: PL 38, 490).⠀ ⠀ // Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI⠀ ⠀ He never goes out, sister. Take heart. He's with you. ⠀ ⠀ #Transfiguration #BISsisterhood #projectblessed
