#leveragelove from @inkypastries: Mila has always taught me to push forward and be stronger, even when she was my little unwanted crazy terrier. But this year she scratched her eye playing in the place we were a million times, and 6 days later even with the best of care, her eye was painfully and suddenly in need to be gone. I was devastated- it’s been a horrible year personally for my family already and she is my perfect angel- and here she is the morning after surgery and a snuggle and is like “hey Mom the cones off! Oh my beautiful boy, what can I say? From a life of dogfighting, to coming minutes away from being euthanized at the age of 9, to kicking cancer's ass this year at the age of 13. ° ° Joey came into my life when I was emotionally falling apart almost 6 years ago. I was dealing with something very serious and I was struggling to keep my head above water. I was angry at the whole world, and I couldn't wrap my head around the hand that I was dealt. This led to me sinking into a pretty deep depression. Things as of lately have become difficult again for me, yet I'm now armed with the many lessons that he has & continues to teach. When Joe came along, he helped me to realize that we don't choose our fate; but instead it chooses us. Everything happens for a reason, even if it takes us a lifetime to learn what that reason is. He inspires me on a daily basis with his strength and continues to save me, every single day. He taught me that hate will eat away at your heart, until there's nothing left. He taught me that forgiveness doesn't change the past, but it does bring peace and enlarge the future. Joey continues to teach me that every day is a second chance. He taught me to live in the moment, never to hold grudges, to accept myself and more over to love unconditionally. He taught me that in my weakest moments, I am still strong. Lastly...he taught me that what matters most is not the first, but the last chapter of our life; which shows how well we ran the race. Thank you for being my very best friend, my heart dog, my secret keeper, my soul animal, my reason, my savior and my main man.
