I’ve had some interest in why I don’t recommend sleep training. So this is my perspective.⠀ ⠀ The conversation needs to be focussed more around how we can support new mums. Parenting was designed to be done in a tribe, not in isolation.⠀ ⠀ We need a real shift in our cultural expectations of babies because it is misled. But alongside this, we need a revolution around supporting new mums or nothing will change.⠀ ⠀ #raisinghumanskind⠀ #consciousparenting #gentleparenting #naturalparenting #attachmentparenting #respectfulparenting #unschooling #consciousness #raiseyourvibrations #psychology #child #parent #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation #parentingtips #heal #healyourselfhealyourchild #babysleep #baby #motherhood

What does your child ask you for lots of? Mine loves bears... Anything bears. When she saw I was serving bears, she asked for LOOOTS of bears. Present them WITH the meal Offer other healthy options I lay them flat so they took up a little extra room and so she could admire them Give more if they ask It's amazing when they don't feel restriction and scarcity, they'll surprise you with what they eat and what order. Still have questions? . ❇️ I address this topic and much more in my mini course. It's loaded with strategies you can implement right away to reduce mealtime stress, and most importantly it EMPOWERS you to nourish their healthy relationship with food. Praise is the same as consequences in that it sends a message to our children that we love them more when they behave in a particular way. ⠀ It comes from an inherent belief that if we don’t modify our children’s behaviour, they will purposefully misbehave, which when you unpack it, means we don’t trust in the inherent goodness of our children. ⠀ But so often I hear parents say well what am I meant to say? ⠀ Mostly, we could learn to say nothing at all. We don’t always need to interfere, to praise, to reward-often being present is enough. But when we do say something, refraining from praising the worth of your child or their achievements is important. ⠀ And another good check is-if you wouldn’t say it to your partner it’s probably not very respectful, so try not to say it to your child. #raisinghumanskind⠀ ⠀ #consciousparenting #gentleparenting #naturalparenting #attachmentparenting #respectfulparenting #unschooling #consciousness #raiseyourvibrations #psychology #child #parent #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation #parentingtips #heal #healyourselfhealyourchild

Did you know that behaviour is ALWAYS communication? That through behaviour our kids are communicating to us an unmet need✨ . Instead of focusing on ‘fixing’ only the challenging behaviour that comes up we need to start getting curious about what is driving that behaviour. . It simply is not very beneficial nor effective to focus so heavily on the behaviour since it is only the tip of the iceberg! . This is why I decided to make this infographic for you guys, the Behaviour Iceberg! I wanted to list as many of the underlying drivers of challenging behaviour that i could think of to help all of us identify them more effectively when they come up . It is incredibly powerful to step into curiosity mode and begin to see FURTHER thank the behaviour at hand. To constantly ask: what lies behind our children’s outbursts, their testing or other challenging behaviour? . Becoming aware of these drivers is the first step towards being able to start meeting our childrens real needs and support our them at the root of the issue at hand . But what unmet needs am I talking about? . - The unmet need can be as “simple” as being hungry, thirsty or tired. . - Another common driver of challenging behaviour are big changes in our children’s lives: moving house, starting school or a new sibling,,, travelling! . - The need for clearer boundaries is also a big one which ultimately is the need to feel more safe and secure. . - Built up tension is another very common driver of challenging behaviour. . - But the strongest underlying unmet need that drives most challenging behaviour is the need for more connection See, almost ALL of the items listed on the the iceberg in this photo can ultimately be traced back to the simple yet profound and necessary need for more connection . Working on the relationship and supporting a strong connection will always be what helps our children move away from challenging behaviour in the most healthy and effective way. . Do you recognise underlying drivers or challenging behaviour in your child in the photo . #respectfulparenting #behaviour

Boundaries aren’t just around behaviour, the way we communicate in front of our children is incredibly important too.⠀ ⠀ Children should not have to worry about adult issues and when we try and process things or vent in front of them, they absorb those problems.⠀ ⠀ This is particularly important for children less than 9 who are in an egocentric developmental stage, which means they personalise everything. For example, financial strain must be because they asked for that toy last week.⠀ ⠀ It’s our job to put the boundary around topics our children hear. #raisinghumanskind⠀ ⠀ #consciousparenting #gentleparenting #naturalparenting #attachmentparenting #respectfulparenting #unschooling #consciousness #raiseyourvibrations #psychology #child #parent #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation #parentingtips #heal #healyourselfhealyourchild

Setting boundaries as a parent can be a challenging task. Especially for those who grew up in enmeshed families where boundaries weren’t modelled or respected.⠀ ⠀ When you set a boundary it isn’t about punishing anyone, it is about putting a limit around your needs.⠀ ⠀ This is something our children need to see us do so that they know it’s safe for them to do it.⠀ ⠀ If we don’t model boundaries we cannot expect our children to know how to implement them when they need to.⠀ ⠀ Likely when you first start implementing boundaries you’ll feel uncomfortable. That’s normal and that’s ok. You can’t escape that, it’s not an indication that the boundary isn’t needed.⠀ ⠀ Generally when we start feeling resentful towards someone, or avoiding them or noticing discomfort during our time spent with them, it’s a really good indication that we need to set a boundary. And this is up to us.⠀ ⠀ When our children witness healthy respectful boundaries they learn that as they grow, their needs matter too. That it’s ok to put boundaries in a relationship. That it’s ok to express your needs. And that there is a healthy and respectful way to go about it. #raisinghumanskind⠀ ⠀ #consciousparenting #gentleparenting #naturalparenting #attachmentparenting #respectfulparenting #unschooling #consciousness #raiseyourvibrations #psychology #child #parent #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation #parentingtips #heal #healyourselfhealyourchild
