Boston Marathon Finish Line| I am beyond words to share that the B.A.A. has created a new division in the marathon! I will officially be competing to break the tape in the 2020 Boston Marathon as a Para Athlete! I am thrilled that this division has come to fruition, and I am proud of the sometimes difficult conversations that needed to happen to get us here. Being inclusive is what running is all about, regardless of what pace or race you run. Or what your body looks like.
When I became a runner I watched elites break tape at each race, picturing what it would feel like. I wanted it so badly I could taste it. I asked officials and was met with ‘we don’t think the division will pull numbers like the others, or get sponsored athletes, or get an audience.’ I was floored and even thought of leaving the sport. It was discrimination.
But the goals and love of my teammates were something I couldn’t leave. So I persisted in bringing my argument for inclusion to every conversation with race officials. And, about two months ago, I was told the incredible news. The B.A.A. has shown what inclusion is at a world class marathon!
I get emails almost every day from parents whose child has an amputation, or is about to, asking what their future might hold. I hope you tell them they can now one day WIN the Boston Marathon.
I want that finishing tape with every cell of my being. But no matter how the race plays out, seeing amputees get our rightful place in sport is a win for everyone. by @adriannehaslet

Puasa bukan halangan untuk tetap aktif bergerak. Asal mematuhi anjuran para pakar kesehatan, olahraga bisa-bisa saja dilakukan dengan sehat dan aman selama Ramadan.
Tentu ada beberapa hal yang harus disesuaikan. Misalnya pilihan waktu untuk berolahraga. Jika biasanya bisa melakukannya kapan saja, saat puasa lebih dianjurkan untuk olahraga selepas sahur atau menjelang berbuka.
Selain itu, hidrasi atau kecukupan cairan juga penting untuk diperhatikan mengingat selama 12 jam puasa tidak boleh minum sama sekali. Jika hendak berolahraga selepas sahur, maka dianjurkan untuk menurunkan intensitasnya agar tidak terlalu banyak berkeringat. Demikian juga saat sahur, pastikan sudah cukup banyak minum air putih.
