I’m back in Ottawa from an incredible trip to @discoversaintjohn ❤️ This charming city has the perfect mix of urban and nature - everything I look for in a vacation! From the incredible restaurants, Bay of Fundy, art work, and festivals, there is so much to keep you busy! It really is a destination you can enjoy at any age. This shot was from the @Moonlight.Bazaar! Such a spectacular and unique event. All ages were out enjoying this night Bazaar. The signature element of the Bazaar is the enormous seven metre inflated moon that looms over the centre of the streets, pictured here. You could grab a drink from a local bar and then walk through to buy food from a vendor at another end. There was grass underneath the moon you could sit on and enjoy a bite and a beer. There was also a dance floor to the side of the moon by the DJ! When we decided to get engagement photos, I was hesitant. It wasn’t something we had planned to do, and I was nervous that the photos might be “too cheesy.” The day of the session, the weather was typical of Saint John: foggy, misty, cold. I almost cancelled. Gosh, I am glad we went ahead with our photo session with @gflynnphotography . From the beginning, she just got us. The session flowed perfectly – the sun came out toward the end of the day, making for a perfect backdrop at Tin Can Beach. I love this photo of us. It captures our shared love of the ocean and Saint John, and our strength as a couple. Thank you, Geneviève, for capturing our love so beautifully. ☀️

Wildflower Scavenger Hunt . . I had planned a scavenger hunt for the girls today, but we woke to rain. Miss 8 curled up with Anne of Green Gables (book 7!) but Miss 6 was still up for the hunt, so I joined her. She took the lead and I simply was along for the ride. We waded through the long wet grass, listening to the raindrops falling through the leafy treetops. We did find wildflowers and crab apples, mushrooms, moss, wild strawberries, "spit bugs" and an interesting rock. I was scolded for flicking a slug off the bean plants, "He's just hungry, Mommy". A mosquito landed on Miss 6 and I watched the inner conflict flicker in her eyes...she didn't want it to bite her but liked seeing it up close. I taught her how to blow them off so she didn't have to squish him. She liked that. A good day. . . . How to: . . I placed 9 wildflower cards (@silvanreverie) on a ring to go with the 9 spaces in the trays (dollar store). I made sure the flowers were in bloom in our yard beforehand. I love that I can repeat this with each new wave of wildflowers. The entire wildflower set by Sarah @the.silvan.reverie is beautiful!
