Sometimes we are feeling blue. यूँ कुछ ढूंढते हुए जब इन तस्वीरों तक पहुँची तो ये मुझे अजमेर वापस ले गईं। तब का मेरा घर। आज वो घर, उसका सन्नाटा, अपना सोलिट्यूड सब याद आता है। उस घर की सीढियां जिनसे सामने फील्ड में हॉकी खेलती लड़कियाँ नज़र आती थीं या फिर बालकनी जिसमें लंबी अकेली शामों में चाय का मग लेकर खड़ी हो जाती थी- सब अतीत के मोह हैं। बाद के दिनों में उस बालकनी में एक मोगरा लगाया था। लंबी गर्मी की छुट्टियों के बाद ये लतिका जब अपने बोर्डिंग में लौटी तो परिंदे नहीं मोगरा उसके इंतज़ार में जीवित था। अब दिल्ली में दोनों लग गए हैं। मोगरा कुछ जल्दी पनप उठा, फूल खिलने लगे पर संन्यासिनी का मन उस अकेले बौराए अतीत में ठिठक जाता रहा। खैर! साड़ी की इतनी सी कहानी है कि जयपुर से 16-17 किलोमीटर सांगानेर से स्मिता लाई। इतनी सारी स्मिताओं में चंदेला ही मेरी स्मिता रही। हममें बहुत कुछ एक जैसा था। मसलन साड़ी में अच्छा दिखना। हम एक-दूसरे की साड़ी सहेलियाँ न बने पर हमने एक-दूसरे को जो साड़ियां दीं वे हमें पसंद खूब आईं। यह कम होता है कि दूसरे के चुने कपड़े यूँ लगे कि आपके लिए हों। यह नीला सागर का नहीं है, आसमान का है। कपड़ा कुछ यूँ है कि इस नीले में डूब लगता है आसमान पर छाए नर्म बादल आपको सहला रहे हों। भयानक गर्मी में यह सांगानेरी साड़ी आपकी त्वचा तक हवा को छान कर पहुंचाती है। मुझ तक यह स्मिता की याद और उसकी बाहों का कसाव लाती है। I miss the warmth of our hugs and kisses.
