Makeup is so closely tied to identity and self confidence, and from where I stand, identity and self confidence are two of the biggest issues young people are struggling with right now. Do you think that teen girls are being taught these unhealthy reasons to wear makeup by their favorite makeup artist YouTuber? Probably not, but that would be really cool. Let’s start thinking these reasons through next time we go to do our makeup, and teaching these things to the ladies and young women in our lives!

Have you ever thought about the message you are speaking over yourself through the products you use on your skin? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You truly have the power to speak ✨life✨ or ☠️death☠️ into your skin through what you put on it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I used to have a “death” mentality when it came to skincare. I probably even looked in the mirror a couple times and yelled at my acne to “JUST DIEEE”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First, I took antibiotics to *kill* the bacteria that produced my acne. Then I rubbed a bunch of prescription creams on my face to *kill* the cells. Those creams then dried the heck out of my skin causing it to lose its vibrancy and it’s *life*. Then I resorted to Accutane because I was told it could *kill* off my acne once and for all. A risky decision considering Accutane has a history of killing people’s spirits by messing with their mental health. But I needed my acne to *die* so that I could fully *live*. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But I didn’t find life through killing. I found temporary fixes that ultimately led to a crushed spirit when the acne came right back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I ultimately found life through giving it. I gave life back to my skin by nourishing it with beautiful nutrient-dense skin products like @banishacnescars vitamin C cream and pumpkin enzyme mask. I fed it good bacteria through probiotics. I took the time to listen to my skin and figure out what was bothering it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This practice affected my whole attitude towards my skin, and towards my self image. I was practicing self love instead of self hate, and in the end that was the most effective way of healing my skin! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you tried approaching your skin with a *life* instead of *death* mentality?
