Hi friends, ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Today's topic was highly requested! For those who wanted to know exactly how to start using a Retinoid, it's important to first understand the side effects of retinoids. Retinoids can cause a lot of dryness, sensitization and irritation IF you do not START SLOW. It's very important to allow the skin to adapt slowly. I've outlined some of the best strategies to start a retinoid and see the benefits! ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 1. Start with the lowest concentration. This should preferably be 0.01%. If you have oily skin, it's possible you could start with a higher concentration. ⁣⁣⁣ 2. Dilute with a moisturizer. Some may think that this will make the retinoid completely ineffective. But this isn't true. While you won't get the full thrust of retinoids abilities, it will still be able to penetrate your skin. Besides, this is actually a good way to start slow. ⁣⁣⁣ 3. You should start by using retinoids on alternate dates to allow your skin adapt and rest. ⁣⁣⁣ 4. Avoid any new products such as AHAs or BHAs for the first few weeks to prevent any additional irritation or dryness. ⁣⁣⁣ 5. Creams are the best delivery forms because they are thicker than gels and serums and also contain occlusive and emollient ingredients which can be quite moisturizing. ⁣⁣⁣ 6. Apply higher than your usual everyday SPF (e.g. SPF 50). This is to give your skin that extra boost of sun protection, in case you don't end up using enough sunscreen. ⁣⁣⁣ 7. The retinoid sandwich method is quite popular because it gives your skin an extra layer of hydration to avoid irritation. ⁣⁣⁣ 8. Use a milder form of retinoid to avoid any irritation. This includes Granactive Retinoid and Bakuchiol. ⁣⁣⁣ 9. Finally, have realistic expectations. Results will only be visible with consistent use. This may take weeks to months to see an improvement. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I really hope this was helpful! Kindly let me know if you have any questions or comments! :)

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE @drbrandt I’m a huge fan of the Microdermabrasion Exfoliator and even my bf loves it too I’m always open to trying new cleansers and after reading great reviews on the new Clean Biotic pH-Balanced Yogurt Cleanser with Chlorophyll (what a mouthful ), I picked it up @sephora for $35 USD⁣ ⁣ It is a multi-tasking, pH-balanced yogurt cleanser that instantly melts away dirt, pollution, makeup, and excess oil without stripping the skin while helping to retain moisture and soothe redness and irritation due to dryness⁣ ⁣ Key ingredients:⁣ Hyaluronic Acid⁣ Antioxidant blend of Green Tea, White Tea, and Grapeseed Extract — Helps protect the skin from free radical damages⁣ Chlorophyll — Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, it helps detoxify, reduce irritation, & soothe the skin⁣ ⁣ The directions say that you can use this on dry or damp skin - I wear foundation everyday so I prefer to remove my makeup first, then use this as a second step cleanser ⁣ ⁣ This fragrance free cleanser has a pale green yogurt consistency. It cleanses and nourishes my skin without stripping it. Lately my skin has been extremely reactive and prone to cystic acne, but after just 3 days - this cleanser drastically reduced the redness on my stubborn breakouts and I’m starting to believe that it’s even helped minimize my acne spots. My skin hasn’t felt or looked this good in a longggg time and I truly mean that. This is a great pH balancing, no frills cleanser for all skin types!⁣ ⁣ I thought MHHC was my top cleanser but in just a few short days, this has taken its place I’ll be repurchasing this forever and ever

Hi friends, ⁣ ⁣ Today's post is about skincare ingredients you should trust! These are the ABC's of skincare. Each of these three ingredients are backed up by TONS of research over and over again to prove that they work. ⁣ ⁣ One of the biggest things that I really want to talk about is mixing ingredients. ⁣ ⁣ Retinols + AHAs/BHAs: ⁣ There really aren't any consistent studies to show that retinols and AHAs/BHAs should not be used in the same routine. What we need is repeated results from various studies to show that this combination is wrong -- so far, we don't have that. ⁣ ⁣ The truth is that, there are NO rules in skincare! If AHA/BHA + retinol is working well for you and you're seeing an improvement in your skin, continue using it. If this combination is causing irritation, stop using AHAs/BHAs with retinols. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Niacinamide + Vitamin C The same concept applies to Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) + vitamin C. You CAN use both products in the same routine if you see positive results with your skin. Note - they do not neutralize each other. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Vitamin C + Retinols: ⁣ A lot of articles claim that vitamin C is too acidic and will deactivate retinol if used in the same routine. The reality is that, the pH of vitamin C will not deactivate retinol because retinols work in an acidic environment. I've seen a lot of people use vitamin c and retinols in the same routine, and it seemed to improve their skin. I've also seen a lot of people who find this combination irritating and as a result, stopped using this combination. There is no correct method to mixing ingredients! ⁣ ⁣ In conclusion: There are no real rules in what you can mix and what you cannot mix. Do what works best for your skin! I'm going to make a detailed post on mixing ingredients soon! Hope this is helpful! :) Comment below if you have any questions! :)

Bit of an oopsie night forgot I used an exfoliating serum this morning and without thinking went in with Sunday Riley Good Genes* tonight. To say sorry to my face for a double exfoliation I kept the end of my skincare routine soothing and replenishing- with the Kate Somerville Ceramides and Omegas serum, Venn Concentrates Revitalizing and Lifting Mask* and finished it off with a few drops of Deviant Facial Oil. Calm and order will be restored. Fingers crossed. Also used - Deviant Cleansing Concentrate, African Botanics Fleur de Rose Cream Cleanser*, Tatcha The Essence*and Chantecaille Stress Repair Concentrate around eyes. I actually loved this routine tonight. Will be repeating again when I don’t exfoliate twice in one day. ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ #skincareblogger #skincareroutine #skincarecommunity #ausbeautybabes #skincareluxury #skincareshelfie #skincare101 #skinfirst #shelfie #vanities #itgtopshelfie #skincareobsessed #skincaregoals #skincareenthusiast #skincareblog #discoverunder50k #skincarereviews #skincaredaily #skincareroutine #365inskincare #skinisin #luxebeauty #skincareaddiction *PR included

Happy Wednesday #mggpinklemonade by the beautiful @myglowguide ° ° ° Trying to get over the mid week hump with a face mask. When in doubt mask now deciding between @farmacybeauty and @sandandskyaus Do I want to be glowy or do I want my breakouts to go away? I am in an organizing mood today, I feel like fixing and rearranging some things. It's crazy how out of nowhere you get the burst of energy and you want to do so much in one day. While other days you just want to be in bed allllll day long and and do absolutely nothing lol #pinklemonade #pink #lemonade #allthingspink #allthingsbeauty #beauty #skincare #skincareblogger #bblogger #discoverunder10k #skinfirst #igskin #igskincare #flatlay #iloveskincare #beautyjunkie #instabeauty #skincarejunkie #healthyskin #skincarediary #skincarejournal #koparibeauty #sandandsky #farmacyskincare #farmacybeauty

I’ve recently added these two @bellflower_official serums* in my routine: Idebenone as my morning vitamin C serum and Hibiscus as my anti-aging night serum. It’s way too early for a review but I really like the consistency of both products. Not watery but gets absorbed really nicely by the skin! Have you tried anything from#bellflower?
