Today I start Wichita State Volleyball Camp The camp is coached by the WSU volleyball team coach, Chris Lamb and his players I’m excited, but also nervous because it goes from 9:00-5:00!!! I’m almost 5 months post op. This will be the most strenuous thing I’ve done since my #spinalfusion I’ve been doing other camps, but I mostly do just the drills, not always the scrimmaging. Well, my walk isn’t super graceful... sometimes my feet try and go in different directions and my back muscles twitch which makes my whole body twitch. Did I mention that my left leg and foot below my knee is completely numb, which makes it difficult to not trip over. I stutter more when walk because I think my mind is both really focused and also very frustrated and well, overallI, I sort of have this whole hunchback of notre dame thing happening. but you know what, F it, I’m walking. ✨

My Wichita Curvy Girls group and I drove down to Oklahoma and had a combined meeting! We all Had such a great time with @curvygirlsoklahoma and her group today! We had a pool party and We all got to meet so many more girls with scoliosis it was so amazing! Reality is the fact that 80% of you look at me like the girl whose disabled and can’t achieve anything but even though I’ve made it out alive reality is that I’m given up on. Reality is I could once obviously stand without trying a few months. Reality is also the video above and what it really takes for me to stand up. Reality is I got a couple broken bones but a paralysed body has not stopped me from trying and nor should you regardless of what you’re trying to achieve. Regardless of whoever makes you believe that you can’t achieve something. I dropped to 30 kgs when I was 21 (post accident obviously) but look at me gooo (also tbh I eat alot of cheese burgers ). #lifeonwheels #spinalfusionrecovery #nevergiveup

#throwbackthursday to the day I was released from the hospital after my #spinalfusion I was a little loopy from the meds still, you can tell in the video Swipe to see the pic of me actually leaving the hospital...I look pretty rough I wasn’t feeling well and was in a lot of pain still. Sitting up was the most painful thing for me. I only had a 25 minute drive home, but it was really hard on me. My mom ended up calling my surgeon later that night and they increased my pain meds. We went to Chuck E. Cheese today after my doctors appointment The appointment was to get my sports physical done and also a recheck on the chest pain I’ve been having since my #spinalfusionsurgery Good news is that I was cleared to do volleyball and basketball for this year Bad news, my doctor said I probably have costochondritis..... an inflammation where my ribs connect to my breastbone It’s probably caused from the trauma of the #spinalfusion. Only treatment is anti inflammatory like Advil. Went fishing! I caught about 15 fish in a couple hours but just little ones! Today was definitely my busiest day since my #spinalfusion 5 months ago! 8 hours of volleyball camp, home for a quick dinner and then fishing!
