#RibbonInTheSky was released as a surprise single for the promotion of Stevie’s double album “Original Musiquarium I”.
The song is another beautifully melodic acoustic piano ballad with jazzy chords and soothing guitar fills by Ben Bridges.
The single peaked at #10 on Billboard’s R&B chart in late 1982. Wonder was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” at the 25th Grammy Awards. Throughout the years, it’s been covered by many artists including #BoyzIIMen, #DianaRoss, #DennisBrown and more.

Whitney’s lower register was so robust and complex. There were so many dimensions to her voice, and the added richness and chocolaty flavor—combined with the tasteful darkness of her 1994 voice—gave her a distinctive, velvety tone that we all know and love. The globally treasured tone to her voice was forgiving, such that any song she covered, no matter what era, ALWAYS sounded incredible. She has one of the best tones the industry has ever heard of, and I assume that is why even the greatest singers fall short on covering a Whitney song. She had an added “umph” to it that goes beyond vocal range, technique, breath support, etc. Thank you to Ginger Rose’s channel for making the South Africa concerts available to us AND adding lyrics! #whitneyhouston #whitneyhoustonfan #whitneyhoustonforever #singing #vocals #song #cover #masterblaster #southafrica #bestvocals #steviewonder #tone #nippy #concert #tour
#StevieWonder #MuhammadAli #CassiusClay #LittleStevieWonder
